研究室紹介
Professor Sungshin Jo's research lab specializes in vascular and endovascular interventions, with a focus on peripheral arterial disease, deep vein thrombosis, and aortic aneurysms. The lab investigates the efficacy and safety of novel anticoagulation strategies—particularly direct oral anticoagulants like rivaroxaban—following thrombolysis in acute iliofemoral deep vein thrombosis. It also explores evolving endovascular techniques, including endovascular aneurysm repair and vascular reconstruction in complex cases such as limb salvage for soft tissue sarcomas. The lab emphasizes clinical outcomes, national treatment trends, and comparative anatomy across populations, particularly in Korean and European cohorts.

15Recently non-Vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants (NOAC) is replacing warfarin for the treatment of deep vein thrombosis (DVT). However, the role of NOAC after thrombolysis of acute iliofeomral DVT (IFDVT) is not yet defined. This randomized clinical trial aimed to compare the safety and efficacy of rivaroxaban versus warfarin after catheter directed thrombolysis of an IFDVT. Patients with acute DVT of both the iliac and the femoral vein (n = 72) were recruited and randomized to either stand
Stroke is one of the leading causes of death and disability globally. Endovascular surgery is now performed more commonly than open surgery for PAD treatment. Balloon angioplasty increased by almost threefold, while the bypass surgery using artificial graft decreased by about 50%.
Limb salvage surgery of soft tissue tumor combined with vascular reconstruction showed favorable functional outcome with good local control. Autologous vein conduit is preferred over synthetic graft both in arterial and venous reconstruction.
The introduction of endovascular aneurysm repair has led to a dramatic decline in open aneurysm repair. The aim of this report was to evaluate Korean national trends for the treatment of aneurysms. A serial, cross-sectional study of time trends of patients who underwent aneurysm repair between 2004 and 2013 was conducted. Data from the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service were used to evaluate the trends of aneurysm repair in the Korean population and to analyze the trends of open and
The objective was to investigate the prevalence of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs) and the diameters of the aorta and common iliac arteries (CIAs) in a Korean cohort and secondly to analyze the differences in aortic diameter by comparison with a European cohort. The Korean cohort included participants ≥ 50 years who consented to AAA screening and data were analysed retrospectively. Aortic and common iliac diameters were measured using the outer-to-outer diameter method and prevalence rates wer
BACKGROUND: As minimally invasive techniques were issued, endovenous thermal ablations have emerged. However, the thermal-associated complication has been reported in the treatment of small saphenous vein (SSV) insufficiency, such as sural nerve injury. Recently introduced cyanoacrylate closure (CAC) is a nonthermal modality, so this thermal-associated complication can be avoided. OBJECTIVE: This retrospective study analyzed the feasibility, safety, and 2-year results of CAC for treating SSV ins
PURPOSE: Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is a common vascular problem and has serious morbidity and mortality in advanced situations. However, the prevalence and risk factors for PAD in Korea have not been reported. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the prevalence and risk factors of PAD in the Korean population. METHODS: The study was processed by visiting community welfare centers. Inclusion criteria were people who participated in this study. Screening was performed by history takin
Stroke imposes a substantial clinical and socioeconomic burden. Carotid endarterectomy (CEA) or carotid artery stenting (CAS) are proven procedures in stroke prevention for the lesions of extracranial carotid disease. Although several studies have addressed national trends regarding carotid revascularization in Western countries, limited data is available with respect to the Korean population. The aim of the present study was to identify the national trend in carotid revascularization in Korea o
Short-term outcomes after DA for ISR were not different from those after BAP but showed a tendency of better primary PR and TLR. Larger multicenter prospective studies are needed to define the role of DA in ISR treatment.
