Professor Tae-hyun Yoo's research lab focuses on the molecular mechanisms underlying chronic kidney disease (CKD) and diabetic kidney disease (DKD), with a particular emphasis on cell death pathways such as ferroptosis, pyroptosis, and apoptosis in renal tubular cells. The lab investigates key signaling pathways—including TGF-β1, Notch, and integrin signaling—that drive kidney fibrosis and disease progression, as well as the role of circulating factors like suPAR in podocyte injury. Innovative therapeutic strategies, including exosome-based drug delivery systems, are being explored to target these pathways with precision and reduced toxicity.
