研究室紹介
Professor Tae-Jin Song's research lab focuses on translational and clinical biomedical research, with a strong emphasis on molecular mechanisms in cancer, neuromuscular disorders, and endocrine-related neurological conditions. The lab investigates cell adhesion molecules in hepatocellular carcinoma, explores clinical and genetic features of rare neuromuscular diseases such as dystrophinopathies in females, and examines the role of thyroid dysfunction in seizure disorders. The lab integrates molecular biology, clinical pathology, and patient-based studies to improve diagnostic accuracy and therapeutic outcomes.

15The marginal gaps of anterior 3-unit zirconia FPD differed according to CAD/CAM systems, but still fell within clinically acceptable ranges compared with conventional metal-ceramic restoration.
Duchenne muscular dystrophy usually affects males. However, females are also affected in rare instances. Approximately 8% of female Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) carriers are manifesting carriers and have muscle weakness to some extent. We investigated the clinical features of 3 female patients with dystrophinopathy diagnosed by clinical, pathological, and genetic studies at our neuromuscular disease clinic. The onset age of manifesting symptoms varied (8-28 years). Muscle weakness grade var
Hyperthyroidism is the precipitating cause of seizures in a small percentage of these patients. In these patients, the prognosis is good if they become euthyroid. The prevalence of thyrotoxicosis-related seizures reported here can be used in conjunction with the prevalence of thyrotoxicosis in the population to estimate the prevalence of thyrotoxicosis-related seizures in populations.
Many studies which focus on the molecules and mechanisms related to the characteristics of the cancer have been performed. In particular, cell adhesion molecules (CAMs) are known to play a central role in the adhesion of cancer cells to vascular endothelial cells. In this study, the expression of CAMs in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cell lines was analyzed and correlated with the characteristics of various HCC cell lines. Eight human HCC cell lines were used in this study. We analyzed the expr
Previous data for esophageal lengths are based on age related groups or cadaveric examination, both of which are improper for application to various individualized procedures. Because of the variability in height for any given age and longer length in vivo, individualized approximation is needed. Thus, we measured various anatomical levels of the esophagus using a flexible endoscope and correlated these data with measurable external body intervals. The mean esophageal length was 40.92 +/- 2.79,
We report herein a case of hyperacute onset of spontaneous cervical spinal subdural hematoma treated with methylprednisolone pulse therapy that showed good results. A 57-year-old man was admitted for posterior neck pain and paraparesis which occurred an hour ago. MRI revealed a ventral subdural hematoma distributed from the level of C1 down to T3, compressing the spinal cord. Conservative management with methylprednisolone pulse therapy was administered considering the patient's poor general con
BACKGROUND: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common malignancies worldwide. Although some epidemiologic and etiologic differences between Asian and Western HCC are known, detailed comparative studies with pathologic correlations have not been performed. METHODS: Paraffin sections of resected HCC specimens from Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and Korea University Medical Center were used to construct tissue microarrays. Immunohistochemical staining of microarray sections w
The rising incidence of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in western countries, along with the poor prognosis offered by present-day treatment modalities, makes novel therapies for this disease necessary. Oncolytic herpes simplex viruses (HSV) are replication-competent viruses that are highly effective in the treatment of a wide variety of experimental models of human malignancies. This study seeks to investigate the effectiveness of oncolytic herpes viruses in the treatment of primary HCC cell lin
The CSF/serum NSE ratio could be a useful parameter for the early diagnosis of TbM. In addition, the authors of the present study suggest a cut-off value of 1.21 for CSF/serum NSE ratio.
