研究室紹介

Professor Tae Shik Kim's research lab specializes in advancing sustainable energy technologies and occupational health. The lab focuses on developing high-performance thermoelectric materials—particularly doped SnSe compounds—through data-driven approaches to enhance energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact. Concurrently, the lab investigates the mental and physical health impacts of occupational factors such as long working hours and high computer use, aiming to inform public health policies and workplace guidelines. This dual focus bridges materials science and population health to address global challenges in energy sustainability and worker well-being.

SJR Q2Annals of Occupational and Environmental MedicineOA

The prevalence of mood disorders, anxiety disorders, sleep disorders, and all psychiatric disorders for workers in the healthcare industry was higher than that of other Korean workers. The strikingly high prevalence of sleep disorders could be related to the frequent night-shifts in these professions. The high prevalence of mental health problems among workers in healthcare industry is alarming and requires prompt action to protect the health of the "protectors."

Doping and alloying are fundamental strategies to improve the thermoelectric performance of bare materials. However, identifying outstanding elements and compositions for the development of high-performance thermoelectric materials is challenging. In this study, we present a data-driven approach to improve the thermoelectric performance of SnSe compounds with various doping. Based on the newly generated experimental and computational dataset, we built highly accurate predictive models of thermoe

Long working hours are significantly associated with the risks of CHD and stroke, estimated by Jee's health risk-appraisal model. This study suggests the need for proper management of working hours to reduce CHD risk and stroke risk in the Korean population.

SnSe: The rise of the ultrahigh thermoelectric performance material
Taeshik Kim, Hyungseok Lee, In Jae Chung
SJR Q2Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society

Abstract Thermoelectric materials can generate electric power from dissipating heat without releasing any undesirable chemicals. They thus can increase global energy efficiency and reduce the use of fossil fuels that are a major resource for generating electric energy, thereby concurrently addressing energy and environmental crises seriously threatening humanity. Increasing a thermoelectric figure of merit, ZT, of materials has been a prime goal in thermoelectrics because an efficiency of thermo

SJR Q1American Journal of Industrial Medicine

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the association between long working hours and risk of coronary heart disease (CHD) estimated by Framingham risk score (FRS) in Korean adults. METHODS: This study evaluated adult participants in Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey IV (2007-2009). After inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied, the final sample size for this study model was 8,350. Subjects were asked about working hours and health status. Participants also completed physical examina

Resonant transmission of terahertz waves through metallic slot antennas on various dielectric substrates
박두재, 홍정택, J.K. Park, 최수봉, B.H. Son, 이상민, 이순일, 안광준, 김대식, 안영환

We report on terahertz electromagnetic field transmission through metallic slot antennas supported on various dielectric substrates. The substrate effect strongly modifies the transmission resonance compared to the free-standing case, while the resonance can be determined systematically by introducing an effective refractive index. The relative contribution of the substrate index to the effective index has been measured for various substrates, and shows a good agreement with theoretical calculat

Generation of Coherent Optical Phonons in ZnO Using Femtosecond Lasers
김대식, E. Oh, I. H. Lee, K. G. Lee, K. J. Yee, Y. S. Lim

We observed the high- and low-frequency E$_2$ optical phonon modes of wurtzite ZnO. Their dephasing times of 1.75 ps, 29.2 ps were obtained at room temperature. We tested polarization dependence of the coherent phonon excitation and the behavior is fully consistent with the selection of the Impulsive Stimulated Raman Scattering(ISRS), identifying the generation mechanism. Also, we studied the relations between the optical phonon intensity and the pulse width of the transform-limited pump pulse.

SJR Q1Langmuir

Fluorescent Au nanocrystals (AuNCs)-silica hybrid nanocomposite (FLASH) was synthesized by co-condensation of surface-modified AuNCs. Present FLASH nanocomposite exhibited four times the enhanced photoluminescence and photocatalytic activity compared to single nanocrystals. On the basis of these enhanced optical features, we successfully demonstrated in vitro fluorescence bioimaging of introduced FLASH to human cervical cancer cell line (HeLa). Beyond the confirmation of photocatalytic activity
