研究室紹介
Professor Taehoon HONG's research lab specializes in sustainable building technologies and life-cycle environmental assessment, focusing on reducing the environmental impact of the built environment. The lab conducts in-depth life-cycle assessments (LCA) to evaluate energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions across all phases of buildings, with particular emphasis on the often-overlooked construction phase. Research also extends to green infrastructure solutions such as green-roof systems, integrating environmental performance with economic feasibility through carbon credit valuation and life cycle cost analysis. Additionally, the lab develops innovative energy efficiency rating systems for existing residential buildings, incorporating incentive and penalty mechanisms to promote widespread adoption of energy-saving practices.

15Many studies use life-cycle assessment (LCA) as a tool to quantify the environmental impact of buildings. Most of these studies have focused on the maintenance and operation phases of construction projects, which account for the largest part of energy consumption during the life cycle of buildings. However, the construction phase may cause significant environmental impacts, so a detailed analysis on the construction phase is required to conduct a more accurate assessment of the energy consumptio
