Professor Tae-Wook Kim's research lab focuses on molecular and systems biology, with a strong emphasis on nitrogen metabolism in plants, mitochondrial regulation in metabolic diseases, and the hormonal and molecular mechanisms underlying brain function and recovery after stroke. The lab integrates multi-omics approaches—such as transcriptomics, proteomics, and epigenetic regulation via lncRNAs and miRNAs—to dissect gene regulatory networks in both plants and mammals. Key research directions include the role of post-translational modifications (e.g., phosphorylation) in hormone signaling, mitochondrial dynamics in liver disease, and the impact of exercise on neurovascular recovery. The lab also applies advanced computational methods, including machine learning, to analyze population-level health data and identify key determinants of reproductive health and disease susceptibility.
