Professor Won-A Choi's research lab specializes in neuromuscular and respiratory rehabilitation, focusing on pulmonary function, respiratory muscle strength, and non-invasive ventilation strategies in patients with neuromuscular diseases (NMDs). The lab investigates cough augmentation techniques, mechanical in-exsufflation, and the impact of early diagnosis and rehabilitation on disease progression in conditions such as ALS, DMD, and spinal cord injury. A key emphasis is placed on improving quality of life and clinical outcomes through tailored pulmonary rehabilitation and home mechanical ventilation management in South Korea’s aging and progressive NMD population.
