Body shape and curvature are vital criteria for judging health. However, few studies exist on the curvature of the body. We present a skin-interactive electronic sticker that digitally decodes the epidermis deformation in a hybrid cartridge format (disposable bandages and non-disposable kits). The device consists of two functional modes: (1) as a thin electronic sticker of 76 μm thickness and a node pitch of 7.45 mm for the measurement of body curvature in static mode, and (2) as a wrist bandage
Dietary monitoring is vital in healthcare because knowing food mass and intake (FMI) plays an essential role in revitalizing a person’s health and physical condition. In this study, we report the development of a highly sensitive ring-type biosensor for the detection of FMI for dietary monitoring. To identify lightweight food on a spoon, we enhance the sensing system’s sensitivity with three components: (1) a first-class lever mechanism, (2) a dual pad sensor, and (3) a force focusing structure
Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome disrupts sleep, destroys the homeostasis of biological systems such as metabolism and the immune system, and reduces learning ability and memory. The existing polysomnography used to measure sleep disorders is executed in an unfamiliar environment, which may result in sleep patterns that are different from usual, reducing accuracy. This study reports a machine learning-based personalized twistable patch system that can simply measure obstructive sleep apnea syndr

The unique oriental dietary culture, ‘chopsticks,’ has been widely distributed and used since oriental culinary arts and delights were introduced. However, few studies were there on sensing the gripping force of chopsticks while cooking and eating. Here, we report a stretchable finger-perimetric sensor that can help analyze the gripping force of food mass intake by chopsticks. Briefly, the device consists of a force sensing element to analyze finger-gripping forces and a flexible gap for the mea
Display-driven optical stimuli underpin a major class of clinically validated digital therapeutics (DTx) now expanding from neuropsychiatric disorders to chronic diseases. The display's optical characteristics-spectral power distribution, luminance, contrast, and temporal modulation-therefore define the delivered dose of these software-based interventions. In this context, blue-rich emission in the 450-480 nm band, particularly with evening exposure, can suppress melatonin via melanopsin-mediate
Objective: The purposes of this study were to investigate the types and the incidences of chromosomal abnormalities, and to provide an explanation for the genetic causations of recurrent spontaneous abortions in Korean population. Methods: Cytogenetic studies were carried out in 535 couples with at least two spontaneous first trimester abortions from January 1981 to December 2003. For karyotype analysis, we used modified Moorhead method by Giemsa staining and Giemsa-Trypsin-Giemsa banding Result
Flexible Throat Patch In article number 2400059, Wonki Hong proposes a sensory transformation approach for machine learning-based dietary analysis and voice recognition. Based on a flexible patch that converts the sense of tactile into hearing and taste, it analyzes the vibrations and movements of the laryngeal muscles to understand pronunciation and peristalsis to determine the type of food consumed.
Abstract The throat is an organ that includes the larynx, esophagus, and bronchi. Vocalization or deglutition triggers micro‐movements of muscles around the throat. In this study, based on machine learning using a flexible patch, pronunciation is identified by analyzing the vibration and movement of the laryngeal muscles, and the type of food consumed is determined through peristalsis analysis. Previously, voices are recognized through cochlea hair cells, and the type of food intake is identifie
