Professor Won Kim's research lab focuses on the intersection of microbiome science, metabolic disease, and environmental health interventions. The lab investigates the role of gut microbiota in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), particularly in relation to fibrosis progression and metabolic health, using multi-omics and clinical cohort approaches. It also explores the therapeutic potential of nature-based interventions, such as forest therapy, for chronic pain and depression, integrating psychophysiological, immunological, and behavioral outcomes. Additionally, the lab contributes to vector biology through genetic engineering of mosquitoes to combat vector-borne diseases.
