Professor Won-Kyung Cho's research lab focuses on the molecular mechanisms underlying metabolic diseases, atherosclerosis, and cancer, with a particular emphasis on cytoskeletal proteins, stress response pathways, and cellular metabolism. The lab investigates how proteins such as vimentin, HSP70, and HSF4 influence disease progression in conditions like obesity, type 2 diabetes, hepatocellular carcinoma, and macrophage foam cell formation. Using genetically modified mouse models and multi-omics approaches, the lab explores the interplay between cellular stress, inflammation, and microbial dysbiosis in chronic diseases. Their work aims to identify novel therapeutic targets for metabolic and cardiovascular disorders.
