Professor Won-Oh Lee's research lab specializes in translational biomedical research, focusing on neurodegenerative diseases, allergic disorders, and emerging infectious diseases. The lab investigates the pathophysiological mechanisms of Alzheimer’s disease and migraine, with an emphasis on biomarkers such as uric acid and cerebrospinal fluid markers, while also exploring the therapeutic potential of natural compounds like sulfated polysaccharides in skin protection and oxidative stress. Additionally, the lab conducts epidemiological and seroprevalence studies on emerging infectious diseases such as severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) in Southeast Asia. The integration of clinical, cellular, and population-level research defines the lab’s multidisciplinary approach to understanding and preventing chronic and infectious diseases.

15Our previous study evaluated the antioxidant activities of sulfated polysaccharides from Celluclast-assisted extract of Hizikia fusiforme (HFPS) in vitro in Vero cells and in vivo in zebrafish.
