Professor Woo-il Jung's research lab specializes in community and regional development, with a focus on residents' sense of place, social capital, and local governance in regional contexts. The lab investigates how physical environments, socioeconomic factors, and local government policies influence residents' attachment to and commitment toward their communities, particularly in regional areas like Gyeonggi Province. Current research emphasizes the role of trust, civic engagement, and local economic conditions in fostering sustainable community attachment and resilience.

1본 연구는 경기북부 지역주민들의 정주의식에 미치는 영향요인을 밝히는데 목적이 있다. 이러한 연구목적에 따라 경기북부 주민의식조사를 토대로 물리적 환경, 사회자본, 지방정부 역할, 개인의 사회경제적 배경 등의 요인들이 이 지역 주민들의 정주의식에 어떻게 영향을 미치는지를 분석하였다. 그 결과 첫째, 정주의식에 모두 영향을 미치며, 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 변수는 지역애착에는 신뢰였고, 영주의지에는 지역경제였다. 둘째, 물리적 환경의 교통편의, 교육여건, 지역경제, 생태환경은 정주의식에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 반면 생활환경과 지역안전은 정주의식 향상에 아무런 영향을 미치지 못하고 있었다. 셋째, 신뢰와 규범 그리고 지역주민 간 협력을 포함한 사회자본이 정주의식 향상에 매우 큰 영향을 미치고 있었다. 넷째, 지방정부 역할이 정주의식 향상에 긍정적인 영향을 미치고 있었다. 다섯째, 지역주민의 사회･경제적 배경에 있어서는 연령이 높고, 소득이 많으며, 주택을 소유한 남성일수록 거주지역에 정주하
