SJR Q1International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering

Abstract In recent years, demand for three‐dimensional simulations has continued to grow in the field of computer‐aided engineering. Especially, in the analysis of forming processes a fully automatic and robust mesh generator is necessary for handling complex geometries used in industry. For three‐dimensional analyses, tetrahedral elements are commonly used due to the advantage in dealing with such geometries. In this study, the advancing front technique has been implemented and modified using a

Numerical analysis on a viewing angle enhancement of a digital hologram by attaching a pixelated random phase mask
Woo‐Young Choi, Chang-Joo Lee, Bum-Su Kim, Kwan‐Jung Oh, Keehoon Hong, Hyon‐Gon Choo, Jisun Park, Seung‐Yeol Lee
SJR Q2Applied Optics

In a digital hologram, the maximum viewing angle of a computer-generated hologram (CGH) is limited by pixel pitch due to the diffraction grating equation. Since reducing pixel size of display panel is challenging and costly, we propose a method to expand the viewing angle of a digital hologram by attaching an aligned pixelated random phase mask (PRPM) onto the CGH pattern based on analysis of simulation results. By introducing a phase-averaging process to the widely used iterative Fourier transf

Providing flexible redundancy for an ATM access switch system
Woo‐Young Choi, Byungjun Ahn, Hyeong Ho Lee

ATM switches require stringent reliability and availability even for access nodes. Carrier class ATM switches fulfill this requirement by employing expensive and sophisticated fault tolerant architectures. However, access switch systems are relatively cheap and compact. Most access switches support fundamental system reliability by providing redundancy for common parts of a system (e.g., switch fabric, power etc.). In addition to providing reliable connection to the core switch systems, access s

Efficient NB-IoT and GNSS chipset solution
Woo‐Young Choi, Ivan Galkin, Seokwon Lee, Ji Hoon Park, Joongku Lee, Dongyun Kim

In this paper, an efficient GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) integration to NB-IoT chipset and its solution for constrained tracking scenario (i.e. time sharing between NB-IoT and GNSS) are explained. Considering the infrequent data transfer to network in the target application of NB-IoT, it makes sense to constrain tracking scenario in order to optimize system architecture in NB-IoT SoC (system on chip) for low-cost GNSS feature support. For efficient SoC design architecture, NB-IoT an

Digital LDO with reference-less adaptive CLK generation and bit-shifting Coarse–Fine-control
Woo‐Young Choi, Seung‐Myeong Yu, Yunha Kang, Junyoung Song

Conventional digital low dropout regulator (DLDO) operating speed is invariable due to constant external reference clock. Fixed DLDO operating speed, regardless of the load state, cause inefficient power consumption for steady-state load or stability problem due to slow transient response time. This paper introduces DLDO with reference-less adaptive clock generation which is optimized by load states. Coarse-fine control and burst-mode are added to the shift register adjusting power transistors (
