Professor Yejin Lee's research lab focuses on respiratory and systemic diseases, with a strong emphasis on interstitial lung diseases such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and tuberculosis. The lab investigates the interplay between metabolic conditions—like diabetes—and respiratory infections, as well as the role of biomarkers such as gamma-glutamyltransferase (GGT) in predicting cancer risk. Additionally, the lab explores genetic susceptibility markers, particularly HLA-related SNPs, in early-onset COPD, and applies advanced computational methods, including machine learning, to model and reconstruct complex biological networks.

15Our findings indicate that depression and anxiety are relatively common in patients with IPF. Although no significant differences were noted with regard to survival rate and hospitalization, the present study suggests that depression and anxiety significantly influence quality of life in patients with IPF.

We evaluated the biological activities of five water extracts of tissue of the mottled anemone Urticina crassicornis.
