研究室紹介

Professor Yeo Kwon Yoon's research lab specializes in orthopedic surgery and musculoskeletal disorders, with a strong focus on lower limb joint arthroplasty, foot and ankle surgery, and spinal deformity correction. The lab investigates long-term clinical and radiological outcomes of joint replacement and minimally invasive foot procedures, while also exploring prognostic factors in diabetic foot disease and the impact of environmental factors on soft tissue injuries. Their work integrates clinical outcomes, surgical technique evaluation, and patient-centered metrics to improve surgical decision-making and patient recovery.

SJR Q1Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery

BACKGROUND: Few studies have investigated long-term clinical outcomes of a mobile-bearing total ankle arthroplasty (TAA) system. This study analyzed long-term outcomes of TAA using the HINTEGRA prosthesis at a single, non-developer center. METHODS: Primary TAAs were performed on 213 ankles in 194 patients, and 151 consecutive ankles [71%] in 136 patients with a minimum follow-up of 10 years after the primary TAA were included in this study. Clinical results were assessed using a visual analog sc

SJR Q1The Bone & Joint Journal

AIMS: The aim of this study was a quantitative analysis of a surgeon's learning curve for scoliosis surgery and the relationship between the surgeon's experience and post-operative outcomes, which has not been previously well described. PATIENTS AND METHODS: We have investigated the operating time as a function of the number of patients to determine a specific pattern; we analysed factors affecting the operating time and compared intra- and post-operative outcomes. We analysed 47 consecutive pat

Minimally Invasive Transverse Distal Metatarsal Osteotomy (MITO) for Hallux Valgus Correction: Early Outcomes of Mild to Moderate vs Severe Deformities
Yeo Kwon Yoon, Zhi Hao Tang, Dong Woo Shim, Hyeong‐Jun Rhyu, Seung Hwan Han, Jin Woo Lee, Kwang Hwan Park
SJR Q1Foot & Ankle InternationalOA

BACKGROUND: We compared the radiological and clinical outcomes of mild to moderate and severe hallux valgus (HV) treated with minimally invasive distal metatarsal transverse osteotomy (MITO) performed by a single surgeon. METHODS: Eighty-four patients who underwent MITO between May 2018 and March 2020 were recruited and followed for at least 24 months. The severe group was defined as having a preoperative hallux valgus angle (HVA) >40 degrees or preoperative first-to-second intermetatarsal angle

Association between outdoor temperature and achilles tendon repair: A 14-years nationwide population-based cohort study
Kwang Hwan Park, Jae Han Park, Yeo Kwon Yoon, Jae Bum Kwon, Jung Hwan Kim, Eunju Lee, Yunho Roh, Seung Hwan Han, Jin Woo Lee
SJR Q1PLoS ONEOA

The incidence of achilles tendon rupture varies by gender, age, and seasonal variation. However, there has been no study as yet linking achilles tendon rupture to daily fluctuations in outdoor temperature. The purpose of this study was to investigate the association between outdoor temperature and achilles tendon rupture using a Korea Meteorological Administration database and a Korean National Health Insurance Service-National Sample Cohort database. Between 2002 and 2015, all instances of achi

Red blood cell distribution width is an independent predictor of mortality following amputation for diabetic foot

SJR Q1Scientific ReportsOA

Red blood cell distribution width (RDW) is a prognostic factor in various disorders. This study aimed to assess the prognostic value of RDW in patients undergoing amputation for diabetic foot. We retrospectively analyzed data on 415 patients who underwent diabetic foot amputation between January 2009 and January 2019. After establishing an optimal cutoff value of preoperative RDW for all-cause mortality, univariable and multivariable analyses with Cox proportional hazard model for survivorship a

A Novel Approach to Total Ankle Arthroplasty with Simultaneous Structural Tibial Cut Autograft for Anterior Tibial Bone Defects
Yeo Kwon Yoon, Kwang Hwan Park, Dong Woo Shim, Wonwoo Lee, Seung Hwan Han, Jin Woo Lee
SJR Q1Clinics in Orthopedic SurgeryOA

Severe bone defects pose a clinical challenge in total ankle arthroplasty (TAA) and are frequently considered contraindicated. We introduce an innovative approach that utilizes a structural tibial cut autograft to address anterior distal tibia bone defects during TAA. This technique is a viable alternative to employing revision TAA systems or resorting to excessively high tibial cuts. Furthermore, it facilitates achieving favorable sagittal alignment and ensures adequate fixation strength of the

Outcomes of Autogenous Bone Grafting for Periprosthetic Osteolysis After Total Ankle Arthroplasty
Yeo Kwon Yoon, Kwang Hwan Park, Dong Woo Shim, Wonwoo Lee, Jae Seok Chae, Seung Hwan Han, Jin Woo Lee
SJR Q1Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery

BACKGROUND: Periprosthetic osteolysis after total ankle arthroplasty (TAA) is a substantial problem. Bone grafting may be beneficial in the treatment of large osteolytic cysts; however, the literature regarding the outcomes of bone grafting is limited. This study analyzed the outcomes of autogenous bone grafting performed for the management of periprosthetic osteolysis following TAA. METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed 42 ankles (41 Korean patients) that underwent autogenous bone grafting for p

Outcomes of Osteosynthesis of Os Subfibulare for Chronic Lateral Ankle Instability With Large Os Subfibulare
Yeo Kwon Yoon, Kwang Hwan Park, Dong Woo Shim, Wonwoo Lee, Yong Hyun Yoon, Seung Hwan Han, Jin Woo Lee
SJR Q1Foot & Ankle International

BACKGROUND: Os subfibulare (OS) is commonly found in patients with chronic lateral ankle instability (CLAI). When performing lateral ligament reconstruction for CLAI, excision of a large OS can cause substantial lateral ligament defects making anatomic repair challenging. This study analyzed clinical and radiologic outcomes among patients who underwent osteosynthesis of the OS for chronic lateral ankle instability and a large OS. METHODS: 28 ankles with CLAI and a large OS (≥10 mm) that underwen

Myiasis with Larvae of Sarcophaga Species in a Diabetic Foot with Gangrene in Korea: A Case Report
Hyeokjoo Jang, Tae Hyun Kim, Yeo Kwon Yoon, Jae Han Park, Yong June Suk, Tai‐Soon Yong, Jin Woo Lee, Kwang Hwan Park
Journal of Korean Foot and Ankle SocietyOA

Myiasis is the parasitic infestation of the body of a live animal by fly larvae that grow inside the host while feeding on its tissue. Necrotic tissue is a favorable environment for larvae to thrive, which can be seen easily in patients with a diabetic foot. Myiasis in a diabetic foot is rare but is constantly being reported. The common larvae genera causing myiasis are Calliphoridae, Sarcophagidae, and Muscidae. This paper reports a rare case of sarcophaga myiasis in a diabetic foot. To the bes
