Professor Yeon-Ji Kim's research lab focuses on molecular mechanisms underlying hematological malignancies, particularly acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), with a central emphasis on cell cycle regulators such as p27Kip1 and Skp2, and their post-translational modifications. The lab also investigates epigenetic modulators like histone deacetylase inhibitors (e.g., apicidin) in cancer cell death pathways and explores neuroprotective strategies using adipose-derived stem cells and environmental enrichment in models of brain injury. A recurring theme is the interplay between signaling pathways (e.g., Akt/PKB, PTEN) and cellular localization of tumor suppressors in disease progression and therapy response.
