Professor Yong-han Ka's research lab focuses on the intersection of psychology, spirituality, and human development, with a particular emphasis on self psychology as a framework for understanding spiritual growth. The lab explores how self-object relationships and internalization processes contribute to spiritual development, integrating clinical psychology with existential and religious dimensions of human experience. Key research directions include the psychological dynamics of human-divine relationships, the role of empathy and self-cohesion in spiritual transformation, and the implicit dimensions of religion and spirituality in clinical practice. The lab also examines how therapeutic processes can foster deeper meaning and transcendence in individuals across diverse cultural and religious contexts.
