Professor Yong Joon Kim's research lab focuses on ophthalmic and translational biomedical research, with a primary emphasis on retinal diseases, ciliopathies, and complications of cosmetic and medical interventions. The lab investigates molecular mechanisms underlying uveal melanoma progression, particularly the role of the Hippo-YAP pathway, and explores novel therapeutic strategies for ciliopathies using phenotypic drug screening. Additionally, the lab examines rare but severe ocular complications, such as vision loss following cosmetic filler injections and submacular hemorrhage post-SARS-CoV-2 vaccination, contributing to clinical understanding and patient safety.

PURPOSE: We evaluated the angiographic features of the affected limbus in patients with pterygia and assessed limbal reconstruction outcomes after limbal-conjunctival autograft (LCA) transplantation in terms of vascular remodeling.
