研究室紹介

Professor Yong-Ju Ahn's research lab specializes in biomedical imaging and translational neuroscience, with a focus on photoacoustic imaging (PAI) for noninvasive, high-resolution monitoring of cerebral hemodynamics, oxygenation, and vascular changes. The lab develops and applies PAI techniques to study stroke pathophysiology and therapeutic responses in preclinical animal models, aiming to bridge the gap between experimental findings and clinical applications. Current research emphasizes multiscale vascular imaging and functional assessment to uncover mechanisms underlying cerebrovascular diseases. The lab also explores innovative contrast agents and imaging protocols to enhance sensitivity and specificity in neurological imaging.

Photoacoustic imaging (PAI) combines optical absorption contrast with acoustic detection, enabling noninvasive, high-resolution spatiotemporal observation of cerebral hemodynamics, oxygenation, and vascular structural changes, thereby emerging as a powerful tool for investigating mechanisms in preclinical stroke models. This review comprehensively highlights how PAI has been employed to track pathophysiological changes and therapeutic responses in various preclinical stroke animal models, and di
