Professor Yong Man Han's research lab specializes in stem cell biology and nuclear reprogramming, with a focus on understanding the molecular mechanisms governing stem cell self-renewal, pluripotency, and transdifferentiation. The lab investigates nuclear reprogramming in somatic cell nuclear transfer (cloning), aiming to improve cloning efficiency and overcome developmental abnormalities linked to incomplete epigenetic reprogramming. Their work explores the functional and molecular interactions between nuclear and cytoplasmic factors that enable a differentiated nucleus to regain totipotency. 3Our stem cell remodeling system may provide a good model which would provide insight into the molecular mechanisms underlying ATSC proliferation and transdifferentiation. Also, these multipotent stem cells can be harvested may provide us with a valuable reservoir of primitive and autologous stem cells for use in a broad spectrum of regenerative cell-based disease therapy.
Although nuclear transfer (NT) techniques are used to clone animals, their efficiency is very low.
