Professor Yoo Mi Yeo's research lab focuses on respiratory and systemic inflammatory diseases, with a strong emphasis on epidemiological and clinical outcomes in conditions such as asthma, bronchiectasis, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, and nontuberculous mycobacterial infections. The lab investigates the impact of chronic corticosteroid therapy, biologic therapies (e.g., TNF inhibitors), and vaccine responses on disease progression and mortality, primarily using large-scale national health databases. A key focus is on understanding host factors—such as age, comorbidities, and immune status—that influence susceptibility and outcomes in infectious and fibrotic lung diseases, including during the COVID-19 pandemic. The lab also contributes to clinical guideline development for interstitial lung diseases in Korea.
