研究室紹介
Professor Yoo Sung Song's research lab specializes in molecular imaging and nuclear medicine, focusing on the development and application of positron emission tomography (PET) tracers for accurate diagnosis and treatment monitoring in neurological and oncological diseases. The lab investigates neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson’s disease using SPECT and PET imaging to understand disease progression, dopaminergic denervation patterns, and early biomarkers. In oncology, the lab applies quantitative dosimetry and advanced imaging techniques to optimize targeted radiotherapy, particularly in liver malignancies using Y-90 microsphere therapy. The lab also explores neuroinflammation and synaptic mechanisms using novel radiotracers in preclinical models.

15⁹⁰Y PET/CT can be acquired after ⁹⁰Y-microsphere selective radiation internal therapy (SIRT) to describe radioactivity distribution. We performed dosimetry using ⁹⁰Y-microsphere PET/CT data to evaluate treatment efficacy and appropriateness of activity planning from (99m)Tc-MAA scan and SPECT/CT. Twenty-three patients with liver malignancy were included in the study. (99m)Tc-MAA was injected during planning angiography and whole body (99m)Tc-MAA scan and liver SPECT/CT were acquired. After SIRT
<b>Background:</b> Classifying PD into tremor dominant (TD) and postural instability gait difficulty (PIGD) subtypes may have several limitations, such as its diagnostic inconsistency and inability to reflect disease stage. In this study, we investigated the patterns of progression and dopaminergic denervation, by prospective evaluation at regular time intervals. <b>Methods:</b> 325 PD dopamine replacement drug-naïve patients (age 61.2 ± 9.7, M:F = 215:110) were enrolled. Patients were grouped i
The initial contact between axons and dendrites at early neuronal synapses is mediated by surface adhesion molecules and is thought to induce synaptic maturation through the recruitment of additional synaptic proteins. The initiation of synaptic maturation should be tightly regulated to ensure that synaptic maturation occurs selectively at subcellular sites of axo-dendritic adhesion. However, the underlying mechanism is poorly understood. Here, we report that the initial trans-synaptic adhesion
We evaluated the usefulness of interim 18F-FDG PET/CT for risk stratification using different cutoff values of the Deauville 5-point scale (5-DS) in DLBCL patients treated with rituximab plus cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisone (R-CHOP). One hundred and fifty patients underwent interim (I-) and end of treatment (EOT-) PET/CT scans. Applying the conventional 5-DS cutoff value of scores 4 to 5 at interim, there was no significant difference in progression free sur
BACKGROUND: To evaluate whether patients with scans without evidence of dopaminergic deficit (SWEDD) have early Parkinson's disease (PD). METHODS: The clinical characteristics, striatal specific binding ratios (SBRs), and the indices of I-123 FP-CIT SPECT images of 50 SWEDD patients, 304 PD patients, and 141 healthy controls were acquired from the Parkinson's Progression Markers Initiative (PPMI) data and evaluated during a 2-year clinical follow-up period. RESULTS: Of the 50 subjects with SWEDD
We performed in vivo PET imaging with 3-[18F]F-CP118,954 (1) for acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and [18F]fluoromethyl-PBR28-d2 (2) for translocator protein 18-kDa (TSPO) to investigate the inflammatory brain response after stroke. Imaging studies were performed in the middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) Sprague-Dawley rat model for a period of three weeks. The percentage injected dose per tissue weight (%ID/g) of striatum of 1, and cortex of 2 were obtained, respectively. To trace the sequentia
<b>Background:</b> Levodopa-induced dyskinesia (LID) is a major complication of dopamine replacement drug usage in Parkinson's disease (PD) patients. Since the mechanism of LID is yet unclear, we analyzed serial [I-123] N-ω-fluoropropyl-2β-carbomethoxy-3β-(4-iodophenyl) nortropane (I-123 FP-CIT) single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) images. We investigated the changes of dopaminergic innervation during the progression of PD in relation to the development of LID. <b>Methods:</b> Data
Integrin αvβ3 is a molecular marker for the estimation of tumor angiogenesis and is an imaging target for radiolabeled Arg-Gly-Asp (RGD) peptides. In this study, the authors investigated the clinical efficacy and safety of a novel radiolabeled RGD peptide, 99mTc-IDA-D-[c(RGDfK)]2, for the imaging of integrin αvβ3 expression, as a measure of tumor angiogenesis in lung cancers and brain tumors. Five patients with lung cancers and se
Central nervous system (CNS) relapse of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is a rare complication, but has a poor prognosis with unknown pathophysiology. Recent trials of CNS prophylaxis have shown to be ineffective, despite patient's selection using several known clinical risk factors. In this study, the authors evaluated the value of pretreatment [F]2-Fluoro-2-deoxyglucose positron emission tomography in predicting CNS relapse in DLBCL patients. The authors analyzed 180 pathologically confir
