Professor You-Min Lee's research lab focuses on interdisciplinary research at the intersection of biomedical engineering, environmental health, and electronic design. The lab investigates the impact of environmental factors—such as air pollution and heavy metal exposure—on human health, particularly in respiratory diseases like COPD and asthma-COPD overlap, as well as reproductive health markers like AMH. Concurrently, the lab develops advanced simulation and optimization techniques for integrated circuit design, especially in power delivery networks and thermal management of 3D integrated circuits, aiming to enhance performance and reliability in next-generation electronics. These dual research directions reflect a strong commitment to both human health and cutting-edge semiconductor technology.

By combining analytical and numerical simulation techniques, this work develops a hybrid thermal simulator, NUMANA, which can effectively deal with complicated material structures, to estimate the temperature profile of a 3-D IC. Compared with a commercial tool, ANSYS, its maximum relative error is only 1.84%. Compared with a well known linear system solver, SuperLU [1], it can achieve orders of magnitude speedup.
