Professor Young-Chan Lee's research lab focuses on oral and head and neck diseases, with a strong emphasis on the role of the oral microbiome in carcinogenesis, particularly in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). The lab investigates host-microbe interactions, microbial dysbiosis, and their impact on cancer progression, metastasis, and treatment response. Additionally, the lab explores non-invasive diagnostic biomarkers such as salivary microRNAs and evaluates clinical interventions for oral mucosal disorders like oral lichen planus and laryngopharyngeal reflux. The research integrates molecular biology, bioinformatics, and clinical studies to advance precision medicine in head and neck oncology and mucosal health.
