Professor Young-gu Kim's research lab specializes in translational biomedical research with a focus on clinical pharmacology, neurology, and interventional radiology. The lab investigates drug disposition and drug interactions—particularly involving renal clearance and ion-pairing agents like zinc acexamate—while also advancing objective, digital tools for diagnosing and monitoring movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease and tremor. Additionally, the lab contributes to the management of rare and complex neurological conditions, including traumatic intracranial pseudoaneurysms and rare soft tissue tumors like spindle cell lipomas, through innovative interventional and diagnostic approaches.

오픈 소스 기반 이상운동증 진단 보조 애플리케이션 개발

파킨슨병이나 본태성 진전과 같은 이상운동증은 행동검사, 임상용 설문조사 등을 활용하여 임상의가 진단한다. 하지만 이러한 방법들은 일반적으로 종이와 펜을 이용하거나, 관찰을 통해 진단하게 되는데, 자료관리가 어렵고 행동검사의 정확한 운동 손상 정도를 측정하기가 쉽지 않다. 본 연구에서는 태블릿 PC 기반 이상운동증 진단 보조 애플리케이션을 개발하였다. 일반적으로 사용되는 임상 설문조사인 Unified Parkinson’s disease Rating Scale과 Clinical rating scale of tremor를 구현하였고 진단 시 빈번하게 활용되는 행동검사인 나선 및 직선 그리기 검사를 빠르게 수행하고 환자의 행동검사 결과를 언제든지 다시 볼 수 있는 관리기능을 포함하여 비교분석이 가능하도록 하였다. 개발된 애플리케이션과 개발자 및 사용자 안내서가 웹 저장소 github를 통해 공개되어 있어 누구나 임상 및 연구 목적으로 사용할 수 있다.

Huge occipital spindle cell lipoma: a case report

Spindle cell lipoma is a subtype of lipoma first defined by Enzinger and Harvey; it accounts for <1.5% of all lipomatous tumors. We present an unusual case of a huge spindle cell lipoma. A 49-year-old man with diabetes mellitus experienced neck pain during sleep because of a huge occipital and upper posterior neck mass that had slowly grown during 4 years.
