研究室紹介
Professor Young Ho Kwak's research lab specializes in pediatric emergency medicine and disaster medicine, with a strong focus on improving clinical outcomes for children in acute care settings. The lab investigates nationwide patterns of pediatric emergency department utilization, fever-related concerns among caregivers, and the application of practical tools like the Broselow Tape in pediatric resuscitation. Additionally, the lab contributes to global health through disaster medical response research, as demonstrated by their fieldwork following the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. Their work bridges clinical practice, public health surveillance, and international emergency response.

15This study was conducted to examine the nation-wide emergency department (ED) utilization pattern by children in Korea. Most referral hospital EDs provide their essential ED information to the National Emergency Medical Center through the National Emergency Department Information System (NEDIS). We analyzed the NEDIS data on pediatric visits (< 19 yr old) during three years, from June 1, 2008 to May 31, 2010. A total of 2,072,664 children visited 124 EDs during the study period, and this patient

Fever is the most common complaint among children brought into the emergency department (ED). 'Fever phobia' is a descriptive term for an unrealistic concern about the consequences of fever. 'Fever phobia' is prevalent among parents and even healthcare providers, worldwide. The aim of this study was to determine the implications of fever-phobic ideas in Korean caregivers. A prospective, multi-center survey was conducted on Korean caregivers who visited the EDs with febrile children. In total, 74
On 26 December 2004, a huge tsunami struck the coasts of South Asian countries and it resulted in 29,729 deaths and 16,665 injuries in Sri Lanka. This study characterizes the epidemiology, clinical data and time course of the medical problems seen by a Korean disaster medical assistance team (DMAT) during its deployment in Sri Lanka, from 2 to 8 January 2005. The team consisting of 20 surgical and medical personnel began to provide care 7 days after tsunami in the southern part of Sri Lanka, the
