Professor Youngho Kim's research lab specializes in ophthalmic imaging and retinal disease mechanisms, with a strong focus on optical coherence tomography (OCT) technologies such as SD-OCT, EDI-OCT, and SS-OCT. The lab investigates choroidal and retinal pathologies, particularly in age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and pachychoroid spectrum diseases (PSD), using advanced imaging to correlate structural changes with visual function and clinical outcomes. Additionally, the lab extends its research into public health and urban mobility by analyzing spatial patterns of bicycle usage in urban environments using network autocorrelation and geospatial statistics.

We analysed the imaging findings of macular telangiectasia (MacTel) type 2 in Korea using spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) and investigated their relationship with visual acuity and clinical stages. A retrospective multicentre cross-sectional study was conducted in six tertiary hospitals in Korea and included 129 patients. We analysed all the SD-OCT images encompassing the macular area. Enhanced depth imaging optical coherence tomography (EDI-OCT) and swept-source OCT (SS-OCT) have emerged as essential diagnostic tools in the study and management of various chorioretinal diseases. Evidence from early clinical studies using EDI-OCT and SS-OCT indicates that choroidal dysfunction plays a major role in the pathogenesis of chorioretinal diseases. Measurement of choroidal thickness (CT) has already become a major research and clinical method, and CT is considered as an indicator of
CS and RS showed moderately significant correlations in CSME. However, neither CS nor RS was correlated with RT in patients with CSME. It could be that CS and MP are complementary to each other and are useful tools in the evaluation of functional vision.
Choroidal changes have been suggested to be involved in the pathophysiology of both age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and pachychoroid spectrum diseases (PSD). 현대사회에서 대체 교통수단으로서 자전거의 중요성은 많은 주목을 받기 시작했고, 서구 도시에서는 이미 많은 성공을 거두기 시작했다. 환경, 에너지, 건강, 경제 등 여러 측면에서 장점을 가진 자전거 교통은, 아직 한국사회에서는 그 이용이 미진하며, 이에 관한 학문적 연구도 부족한 현실이다. 본 연구는 기존의 자전거 활성화 관련 정책 및 시설 확충의 성과가 저조한 이유를 공간상의 자전거 이동에 관한 흐름과 교통량을 파악한 연구가 부족한 현실에서 찾는다. 이 연구는 서울시의 행정동 사이의 자전거 운행 네트워크에서 자전거 이용의 공간적인 패턴을 공간적 네트워크 자기상관관계(Spatial Network Autocorrelation)를 통해서 분석한다. We investigated the relationship between pachydrusen and choroidal thickness and age in eyes with polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV) and fellow eyes, compared to eyes with central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC). This retrospective study included 89 eyes with PCV and 146 eyes with CSC. The number, location, and shape of the pachydrusen and their association with choroidal thickness and age were analyzed. PCV eyes showed pachydrusen more frequently than eyes with CSC (52% vs. 20%, p < 0.001).
Peripapillary CVI outside the macula may provide additional information beyond what is known through subfoveal choroid studies.
HCF distributions correlated with the degree of fundus pigmentation in eyes with VKH disease. Quantitative measurements of HCF on en face OCT images can be a novel tool in evaluating choroidal pigmentation in patients with VKH disease.
A fully differential dual input CMOS transconductor, with high linearity and low distortion, is proposed. To achieve high performance characteristics at low supply voltage, three design considerations are described from the viewpoint of DC-offsets, linear range, and distortions. A 1.8 V 10 MHz fully-differential 3/sup rd/-order Chebyshev Gm-C low pass filter, using this transconductor, is designed and fabricated using a 0.18 /spl mu/m CMOS process. 근래에 들어 화석연료의 고갈과 도시환경문제의 악화 등 다양한 문제점이 부각되면서 자동차에 기초한 도시 교통수단의 대안으로 자전거에 대한 관심이 확대되었다. 자전거 이용의 확대는 환경, 경제, 건강 등 여러 분야에 긍정적이라는 이유로 정부, 시민단체 등 여러 조직에서 지지되어 왔으나, 그 효과는 많은 투자와 노력에도 불구하고 제한적이었다. 이 연구는 대중교통과의 연계를 통한 생활밀착형 이용이 자전거 이용 확대의 가장 중요한 요인이라 주장하며, 서울시를 대상으로 버스 대중교통과 자전거 이용의 연계 가능성을 분석한다. 연구방법으로는 국지적 이변량공간상관관계 모델을 자전거 및 버스 이용 네트워크로 확장 적용한 것을 이용하였다. 연구 결과, 제한된 지역에서 단거리 이동 중심의 마을버스, 학원버스, 백화점 버스 등이 자전거 이용으로 연계 그리고 대체 가능성이 높은 것으로 나타났다.
