研究室紹介
Professor Youngsook Park's research lab specializes in clinical and translational studies focusing on neuromuscular function, musculoskeletal health, and critical care medicine. Key research directions include the effects of core stabilization exercises on spinal deformities in young adults, pharmacological interventions in stroke recovery (e.g., zolpidem), and the management of delirium in hospitalized patients. The lab also investigates neurological outcomes following facial trauma, particularly infraorbital nerve dysfunction, and explores biomarkers such as thyroid hormones and lactate in predicting clinical outcomes in conditions like sepsis and sarcopenia.

15OBJECTIVE: To assess the effect of core strengthening exercises on Cobb angle and muscle activity in male college students with functional scoliosis. METHODS: Static and dynamic back muscle activity were evaluated via surface electromyography (sEMG). A core exercise protocol comprising 18 exercises was performed three times/week for 10 weeks. Patients were randomly allocated to either a home- or community-based exercise programme. Cervical thoracolumbar scans and sEMG were performed after 10 wee
Objective To evaluate the effects of zolpidem on functional recovery in a rat model of acute ischemic stroke. Methods Following ischemic stroke procedures, 42 rats (six in each group) were randomly assigned to receive zolpidem (0.1, 0.25, 0.5, 1.0, 2.0 or 4.0 mg/kg) or normal saline administer intraperitoneally once daily for two weeks. Motor behavioural index (MBI) scores, radial 8-arm maze (RAM) test times and brain MRI scans were obtained 24 hours (Day 1) and two weeks (Day 14) post-procedure
PURPOSE: The purpose of this survey was to investigate clinical nurses' understanding of delirium and their educational need of delirious patient care. METHOD: A survey questionnaire regarding nurses' general perception and understanding of delirium, experience with delirious patients and educational need was developed and conducted with 179 clinical nurses in a university hospital in Seoul. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics. RESULTS: Nurses thought that delirium was one of the most
Among euthyroid men, FT4 had inverse dose-response association with new onset of LMM defined with weight (LMM-W) and BMI (LMM-B). Height squared LMM (LMM-H) had no apparent relationship with any thyroid hormones. Euthyroid women had no dose-responsive association between thyroid hormones and incident LMM.
The vital signs or laboratory test results of sepsis patients may change before clinical deterioration. This study examined the differences in prognostic performance when systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS), Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA), quick SOFA (qSOFA) scores, National Early Warning Score (NEWS), and lactate levels were repeatedly measured. Scores were obtained at arrival to triage, 1 h after fluid resuscitation, 1 h after vasopressor prescription, and before leaving
A survey was conducted to examine the fatigue and the related factors in pregnancy. 426 pregnant women were recruited from antenatal clinic at 8 hospital from November 1, 1997 to January 1, 1998. Fatigue was measured by the Modification of the Fatigue Symptoms Checklist(MFSC) developed by the Industrial Fatigue Research Committee of the Japanese Association of Industrial health(Yoshitake, 1978). The MFSC consisted of 34 items with 4-point Likert scale. Minor discomfort during pregnancy was measu

BACKGROUND: Infraorbital nerve dysfunction is commonly reported after zygomaticomaxillary complex fractures. We evaluated sensory changes in four designated areas (eyelid, nose, zygoma, and lip) innervated by the infraorbital nerve. This evaluation was conducted using the static two-point discrimination test and the vibration threshold test. We assessed the diagnostic significance of the blink reflex in patients with infraorbital nerve dysfunction. METHODS: This study included 18 patients, all o
Recently, there have been reports that the optical gain in CdZnSe QW lasers is not derived from stimulated processes between free electrons and holes but between bound electron and holes or excitons. If so, then an "excitonic gain" (EX) model rather than the electron-hole plasma (EHP) model would be appropriate for designing CdZnSe QW lasers. While this may be the case, it is interesting at this time to see how well the EHP model can do in predicting the temperature dependence of threshold curre
Objective: The impact of thyroid hormones within normal range on muscle mass remains unknown. We examined the association between new onset of low muscle mass (LMM) and thyroid hormones among euthyroid men and women with three different definitions of LMM in prospective cohort study. Methods: We performed a cohort study of 198,069 Korean adults (mean age of 39.2 years), free of LMM at baseline, who participated in a repeated screening examination and were followed-up annually or biennially for u
Purpose: To report the efficacy of intravitreal bevacizumab injection in adult patients with Coats’disease. Case summary: Vascular telangiectasia, microaneurysms, circinate hard exudates, and macular edema were shown in the macula of two patients. Vascular abnormality was limited to≤6 clock hours in both cases. In case 1, the temporal retina demonstrates filigree-like vessels and capillary nonperfusion. In case 2, the nasal retina demonstrates aneurysmal dilatation and multiple microaneurysms. I
