Professor Young-Sun Lee's research lab focuses on the molecular mechanisms underlying liver diseases, particularly the interplay between ferroptosis, endoplasmic reticulum stress, and hepatic stellate cell activation in the context of liver fibrosis and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). The lab investigates the role of extracellular vesicles, such as exosomes, and their microRNA cargo in disease progression, as well as the metabolic reprogramming of hepatic stellate cells and retinol metabolism in liver injury. A central theme is the crosstalk between cell death pathways and the tumor microenvironment in liver pathologies.
