Professor Yuk-gu Hwang's research lab specializes in regenerative medicine and orthopedic tissue engineering, with a focus on cartilage repair, mesenchymal stem cell biology, and the treatment of degenerative joint diseases. The lab investigates the biological and functional enhancement of stem cells using bioactive compounds like resveratrol, and explores innovative therapies such as allogeneic keratinocyte transplantation for chronic wounds and hyaluronic acid injections for post-microfracture pain. The lab also examines molecular and cytogenetic markers in hematologic malignancies, particularly IgH deletions in multiple myeloma and chronic lymphocytic leukemia, and reports on complications from spinal implant systems, including metallosis and soft tissue reactions. These multidisciplinary efforts aim to improve clinical outcomes through translational research in orthopedics, dermatology, and hematology.
