Professor Yunji Cha's research lab focuses on the discovery and development of novel antimicrobial agents from natural sources, particularly fermented plant extracts, to combat drug-resistant pathogens such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). The lab investigates the enhancement of bioactive compounds through microbial fermentation, aiming to improve antibacterial efficacy while minimizing side effects. Current research emphasizes the application of lactic acid bacteria in modifying natural products for therapeutic use in infectious disease management.
