Professor Zhong-Li Ding's research lab focuses on critical media studies, cultural politics, and the dynamics of self-governance in contemporary China. The lab explores how state-led discourse, mediated through popular television programs and digital media, shapes youth subjectivities under the dual pressures of socialist ideology and neoliberal economic reforms. Central to the lab’s work is the analysis of talk shows and public media as sites of ideological formation, where self-management, responsibility, and national development are discursively constructed. The lab investigates the interplay between global neoliberal governance models and localized cultural values in shaping contemporary Chinese social subjectivities.

1최근 미디어를 비롯한 사회과학 분야에서 신자유주의 통치성 관련 연구가 축적되고 있다. 중국은 사회주의체제를 토대로 하고 있지만 개혁개방 정책, WTO 가입, 미디어의 발전과 자본주의적 경제체제의 부분적 도입 등으로 신자유주의적 요소가 점점 강화되고 있다. 이러한 모순적 정치경제체제의 공존과 이에 기인하는 복합적 사회변화의 과정에서 청년세대의 주체화 과정은 흥미롭고 중요한 학문적 탐구의 영역이다. 이러한 문제의식을 기반으로 이 연구는 중국 청년세대에게 인기 있는 토크쇼 프로그램인 <강연합시다>와 <기파설>을 분석대상으로 선정하여 이 프로그램들에 드러나는 자기통치의 문화정치와 수용양식을 분석하였다. 텍스트 분석과 심층 인터뷰 결과, 두 토크쇼 프로그램은 기획의도, 출연자 선정과 형식에서 자기통치적 속성을 기반으로 하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이 프로그램들은 민감한 사회적 문제를 적극적으로 다루지 않으며, 특정한 지식이나 담론의 생산을 통해 일련의 자기통치의 논리와 기술을 청년세대에게 전
