SJR Q3MedicineOA

Rapid response teams have been adopted to prevent unexpected in-ward cardiac arrest. However, there is no convincing evidence of optimal operation with rapid response team. Our aim was to address the impact of focused rapid response team on the safety of patients in wards. Comparison of focused with extended rapid response teams was performed in single center. The extended team operated on adult patients in whole ward (both medical and nonmedical ward) 24 hours per day, 7 days per week during 20

OBJECTIVES: It is difficult to assess risk in normotensive patients with upper gastrointestinal bleeding. The aim of this study was to evaluate whether the initial lactate value can predict the in-hospital occurrence of hypotension in stable patients with acute nonvariceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding. DESIGN: Retrospective, observational, single-center study. SETTING: Emergency department of a tertiary-care, university-affiliated hospital during a 5-year period. PATIENTS: Medical records of

SJR Q1Scientific ReportsOA

Although adrenaline (epinephrine) is a cornerstone of initial anaphylaxis treatment, it is not often used. We sought to assess whether use of adrenaline in hemodynamically stable patients with anaphylaxis could prevent the development of hypotension. We conducted a retrospective cohort study of 761 adult patients with anaphylaxis presenting to the emergency department (ED) of a tertiary care hospital over a 10-year period. We divided the patients into two groups according to the occurrence of hy

This study aimed to address the impact of 1-hr bundle achievement on outcomes in septic shock patients. Secondary analysis of multicenter prospectively collected data on septic shock patients who had undergone protocolized resuscitation bundle therapy at emergency departments was conducted. In-hospital mortality according to 1-h bundle achievement was compared using multivariable logistic regression analysis. Patients were also divided into 3 groups according to the time of bundle achievement an

SJR Q3MedicineOA

The collapsibility and diameter of the inferior vena cava (IVC) are known to predict the volume state in critically ill patients. However, no study has examined the prognostic value of the IVC diameter ratio measured on computed tomography (CT) in patients with septic shock. A retrospective observational study was conducted on adult septic shock patients visiting the emergency department at a university hospital in Korea. The IVC diameter ratio was calculated by dividing the maximal transverse a

Comparison of risk scores and shock index in hemodynamically stable patients presenting to the emergency department with nonvariceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding

SJR Q2European Journal of Gastroenterology & Hepatology

OBJECTIVE: Risk assessment in nonvariceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding (UGIB) is not well validated and remains unclear in hemodynamically stable patients at emergency department admission. We compared the prognostic value of risk-scoring systems for predicting adverse outcomes in patients with nonvariceal UGIB and normotension. PARTICIPANTS AND METHODS: A single-center prospective observational study was carried out. Patients with consecutive nonvariceal UGIB, presenting with normotension (s

ROMI: A Real-Time Optical Digit Recognition Embedded System for Monitoring Patients in Intensive Care Units
Sanghoon Jeon, Byuk Sung Ko, Sang H. Son
SJR Q1SensorsOA

With advances in the Internet of Things, patients in intensive care units are constantly monitored to expedite emergencies. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, non-face-to-face monitoring has been required for the safety of patients and medical staff. A control center monitors the vital signs of patients in ICUs. However, some medical devices, such as ventilators and infusion pumps, operate in a standalone fashion without communication capabilities, requiring medical staff to check them manually. One
