Menstrual disturbances and its association with sleep disturbances: a systematic review
Bomin Jeon, Jihyun Baek
SJR Q1BMC Women s HealthOA

BACKGROUND: Menstrual disturbances harm women's health, and general well-being. As growing evidence highlights the relationship between sleep and menstrual disturbances, it is imperative to comprehensively examine the association between sleep and menstrual disturbance considering the multiple dimensions of sleep. This systematic review aims to identify the association between sleep and menstrual disturbances by evaluating using Buysse's sleep health framework. METHODS: A comprehensive search of

Feasibility of using the RAPAEL Smart Glove in upper limb physical therapy for patients after stroke: A randomized controlled trial
Hee‐Tae Jung, Il Hwan Kim, Jugyeong Jeong, Bomin Jeon, Taekeong Ryu, Yangsoo Kim

We aim to assess the feasibility of using the RAPAEL Smart Glove as an assistive tool for therapists in clinical rehabilitation therapy settings and to investigate if it can be used to improve the motor recovery rate of stroke survivors. Our randomized controlled study involved 13 post-stroke inpatients. An experimental treatment consisted of one 30-minute game-assisted therapy and one 30-minute conventional therapy per day while the control treatment consisted of two 30-minute conventional ther

Depressive Symptoms in Comorbid Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Insomnia: An Integrative Review
Bomin Jeon, Faith S. Luyster, Judith A. Callan, Eileen R. Chasens
SJR Q1Western Journal of Nursing ResearchOA

The purpose of this integrative review was to synthesize evidence concerning the relationship between comorbid obstructive sleep apnea and insomnia (OSA+I), and depressive symptoms. OSA and insomnia are common sleep disorders, recently comorbid OSA+I has been recognized as prevalent in adults. Although each sleep disorder increases the risk and severity of depressive symptoms, the effect of comorbid OSA+I on depressive symptoms remains unclear. 재가노인의 수면 관련요인
전보민, 최스미

Purpose: Reported insomnia and decreased sleep quality are common among older adults. The purpose of this study was to identify factors contributing to insomnia and decreased sleep quality among elderly persons living within a community. The data will be verified with Actigraph which is a non-invasive measurement of rest/activity cycles. Methods: 137 participants over 65 years old were recruited from a senior welfare center. Their mean agewas 74.07±5.18 years old and majority was women (69.3%).

Objective Assessment of Sleep Patterns among Night-Shift Workers: A Scoping Review
Seunghwa Shin, Su Hyun Kim, Bomin Jeon
SJR Q2International Journal of Environmental Research and Public HealthOA

In this scoping review of the literature, we identified the types and the parameters of objective measurements to assess sleep patterns among night-shift workers. We conducted a literature search using electronic databases for studies published from 1991 to 2020 and charted and summarized key information. We included 32 studies in the review. Polysomnography was used in 6 studies and wearable sleep detection devices were utilized in 26 studies. The duration of sleep assessment using the wearable

OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this study was to explore social determinants of health (SDoH), and disease severity as predictors of sleep quality in persons with both Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and type 2 diabetes (T2D). METHODS: Disease severity was measured by Apnea-Hypopnea Index [(AHI) ≥ 5] and HbA1c for glycemic control. SDoH included subjective and objective financial hardship, race, sex, marital status, education, and age. Sleep quality was measured by Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI

Effects of continuous positive airway pressure treatment on sleep architecture in adults with obstructive sleep apnea and type 2 diabetes

SJR Q2Frontiers in Human NeuroscienceOA

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) severely impacts sleep and has long-term health consequences. Treating sleep apnea with continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) not only relieves obstructed breathing, but also improves sleep. CPAP improves sleep by reducing apnea-induced awakenings. CPAP may also improve sleep by enhancing features of sleep architecture assessed with electroencephalography (EEG) that maximize sleep depth and neuronal homeostasis, such as the slow oscillation and spindle EEG acti

SJR Q1SLEEPOA

Abstract Introduction It is unclear how comorbid insomnia and sleep duration may influence diabetes-related distress and glycemic control in adults with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and type 2 diabetes (T2D). This analysis examined whether diabetes-related distress mediates the associations of OSA and insomnia severity with glycemic control in adults with T2D and OSA based on sleep duration. Methods This study was a secondary analysis of merged baseline assessment data from two clinical trials
