A Comprehensive Review of Natural Compounds for Wound Healing: Targeting Bioactivity Perspective
Tung X. Trinh, Nguyen Van Long, Le Thi Van Anh, Pham Thi Nga, Nguyen Ngan Giang, Pham Ngoc Chien, Sun‐Young Nam, Chan Yeong Heo
SJR Q1International Journal of Molecular SciencesOA

Wound healing is a recovering process of damaged tissues by replacing dysfunctional injured cellular structures. Natural compounds for wound treatment have been widely used for centuries. Numerous published works provided reviews of natural compounds for wound healing applications, which separated the approaches based on different categories such as characteristics, bioactivities, and modes of action. However, current studies provide reviews of natural compounds that originated from only plants

Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma: Molecular Pathogenesis and Treatment
Xinrui Zhang, Pham Ngoc Chien, Sun‐Young Nam, Chan Yeong Heo
SJR Q1CancersOA

Anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL) is an uncommon type of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL), as well as one of the subtypes of T cell lymphoma, accounting for 1 to 3% of non-Hodgkin's lymphomas and around 15% of T cell lymphomas. In 2016, the World Health Organization (WHO) classified anaplastic large cell lymphoma into four categories: ALK-positive ALCL (ALK+ALCL), ALK-negative ALCL (ALK-ALCL), primary cutaneous ALCL (pcALCL), and breast-implant-associated ALCL (BIA-ALCL), respectively. A Rare Skeletal Disorder, Fibrous Dysplasia: A Review of Its Pathogenesis and Therapeutic Prospects
Ha-Young Kim, Jung-Hee Shim, Chan Yeong Heo
SJR Q1International Journal of Molecular SciencesOA

Fibrous dysplasia (FD) is a rare, non-hereditary skeletal disorder characterized by its chronic course of non-neoplastic fibrous tissue buildup in place of healthy bone. A myriad of factors have been associated with its onset and progression. Perturbation of cell-cell signaling networks and response outputs leading to disrupted building blocks, incoherent multi-level organization, and loss of rigid structural motifs in mineralized tissues are factors that have been identified to participate in F

Surgical suture releasing macrophage-targeted drug-loaded nanoparticles for an enhanced anti-inflammatory effect
Hansol Kim, Byung Hwi Kim, Beom Kang Huh, Yeon Chun Yoo, Chan Yeong Heo, Young Bin Choy, Ji‐Ho Park
SJR Q1Biomaterials Science

A surgical suture is a medical device to close the wound site of skin and organs but excessive inflammation surrounding the suture can disrupt the wound healing process. Although post-operative prescription of anti-inflammatory drugs is used to manage the inflammation, the need for local drug delivery systems has been rising because of low bioavailability and fast clearance of drugs. In this work, we proposed a new strategy for a local anti-inflammatory device by incorporating macrophage-targete

Evaluation of the Performance of a ZnO-Nanoparticle-Coated Hydrocolloid Patch in Wound Healing
Van Anh Le, Tung X. Trinh, Pham Ngoc Chien, Nguyen Ngan Giang, Xinrui Zhang, Sun‐Young Nam, Chan Yeong Heo
SJR Q1PolymersOA

Hydrocolloid dressings are an important method for accelerating wound healing. A combination of a hydrocolloid and nanoparticles (NPs), such as gold (Au), improves the wound healing rate, but Au-NPs are expensive and unable to block ultraviolet (UV) light. Herein, we combined zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NPs) with hydrocolloids for a less expensive and more effective UV-blocking treatment of wounds. Using Sprague-Dawley rat models, we showed that, during 10-day treatment, a hydrocolloid patch c

Efficacy study of the new polycaprolactone thread compared with other commercialized threads in a murine model

SJR Q2Journal of Cosmetic DermatologyOA

Abstract Background Polydioxanone (PDO) threads, poly‐L‐lactic acid (PLLA) threads, and polycaprolactone (PCL) threads have been used for lifting and antiaging purposes. The new PCL threads that have less residual monomer compared to the previous PCL are developed. Aims The efficacy of threads regarding collagen synthesis and wrinkle improvement was evaluated in vivo model. Methods In this study, threads were inserted into 30 six‐week‐old male SKH‐1 hairless mice. One of four threads was implant

The antiaging effects of a product containing collagen and ascorbic acid: In vitro, ex vivo, and pre-post intervention clinical trial

SJR Q1PLoS ONEOA

Various substances, including collagen (Naticol®) and ascorbic acid, that inhibit and prevent skin aging have been studied. Collagen prevents skin aging, has anti-inflammatory effects, and assists in normal wound healing. Ascorbic acid is a representative antioxidant that plays a role in collagen synthesis. To achieve a synergistic effect of collagen and ascorbic acid on all skin types, we prepared a product named "TEENIALL." In addition, we used a container to separate ascorbic acid and collage

Evaluation of Poly(lactic-co-glycolic Acid) Plate and Screw System for Bone Fixation
Subin Park, Jin Hee Kim, Il Hwan Kim, Min-Su Lee, Su‐Hak Heo, Hong Kim, Eun Hee Kim, Young Bin Choy, Chan Yeong Heo
SJR Q2Journal of Craniofacial Surgery

In this study, we investigated the efficacy and safety of the recently developed modifiable bioabsorbable plates and screws, which are made of PLGA [poly(lactic-co-glycolic acids)]. An in vitro extract test and a mammalian erythrocyte micronucleus test revealed that neither cytotoxicity nor genotoxicity was observed with the plates and screws tested in this study. An in vivo mandible fracture model in rabbit was introduced to evaluate the in vivo efficacy and of the PLGA-based plates and screws.

Cellular and Molecular Mechanisms of Wound Repair: From Biology to Therapeutic Innovation

SJR Q1CellsOA

Wound repair preserves tissue integrity through four overlapping phases-hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling-coordinated by platelets, neutrophils, macrophages, fibroblasts, keratinocytes, endothelial cells, and stem/progenitor cells acting with growth factors, chemokines, extracellular matrix, and intracellular signaling. Disruption of these programs results in chronic non-healing wounds or fibrotic scarring. Recent work delineates microbial influences, epigenetic and transcr
