OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to investigate the associations between urinary incontinence (UI) and physical frailty (PF). METHODS: The study participants (n = 404) who visited the geriatric clinic were divided into two groups according to the presence or absence of UI based on questionnaire results. Older adults affected by depression and frailty may present different clinical manifestations based on sex, and require different treatment approaches. Clinicians should assess both physical and psychological needs for integrated care in frail older adults.

Elevated urinary cotinine levels were associated with poor sleep quality in relatively young and middle-aged South Korean adults. Higher odds for poor sleep quality among cotinine-verified smokers who self-reported as never smokers also demonstrate the value of quantitative measurement of urinary cotinine. Prospective studies are warranted to clarify the cause-effect relationship between smoking and sleep quality.

-연구배경 대사증후군은 인슐린 저항성을 근간으로 하는 주요 심혈관계 위험인자 증후군으로 비만 , 당 대사장애, 고혈압, 이상지질혈증 및 동맥경화증 등 임상 형태로 나타나며 , 당뇨병이나 심혈관질환의 전단계이다 . 중년 남녀를 대상으로 대사 증후군과 스트레스, 우울증 상태와의 관련성을 평가하기 위해 본 연구를 수행하였다 .방 법 2002년 6월1일부터 30일까지 일개 대학병원 종합건강진단센터로 내원한 35-64세 사이의 중년 남녀 575명을 대상으로 허리둘레를 포함한 신체계측, 혈압 및 생화학 검사를 시행하였다 . 설문으로 스트레스(Brief Encounter Psychosocial Instrument, BEPSI-K), 우울증(Zung’s Self-Rating Depresion Scale, SDS) 지수, 생활습관 요인을 파악 하였으며 대사증후군과의 연관성을 평가하였다. 결 과 총 575명중 대사증후군 환자는 44명이었고, 남자 32명, 여자 12명이었다. 생활습관과 연령 등을 보정

연구배경: 신체활동 증진이 사망률 및 이환율의 감소와 연관이 있다는 많은 연구들이 있어 왔으며 신체활동이 개인의 삶에 미치는 긍정적인 영향을 줄 수 있다는 것도 외국의 여러 연구에서 보고되었다. 본 연구는 신체활동이 건강한 한국의 성인에서 건강관련 삶의 질과 관련이 있는지를 조사하기 위하여 시행되었다. 방법: 연구대상은 2006년 4월 1일부터 2006년 5월 30일까지 강북삼성병원 건강검진센터에 예약된 수검자를 대상으로 하였으며 총 1,000명에게 우편으로 설문지를 발송하였다. 이중 남자 214명, 여자 195명이 최종 연구대상이었다. 신체활동도는 국제신체활동도 단축형 자가기입식 설문지(IPAQ-short fom)의 한국어 번역판을 이용하였고 건강관련 삶의 질은 CMCHS ver 1.0을 이용하였다. 연구대상자는 남성과 여성으로 구분하고 신체활동도 점수에 따라 권장량 이상의 신체활동을 하는 군과 그렇지 않은 군으로 분류하였다. 결과: 권장량 이상의 신체활동을 시행하는 군에서 그렇

연구배경: 바쁜 의료현실에서 환자교육을 보완할 수 있는 훌륭한 교육매체는 인쇄물 자료이며 최근 인터넷 보급으로 이 또한 중요한 교육매체로써 대두되었다. 환자교육 자료는 크게 내용, 디자인, 독해력 등의 기준으로 평가되며 지금까지 내용, 디자인에 대한 평가 연구는 있었으나 독해력에 대한 평가는 없었다. 본 연구는 국내에서 처음으로 고혈압 관련 자료에 대한 독해력 수준 평가를 해 보고자 한다. 방법: 연구대상은 수집된 자료 중 선별하여 고혈압 관련 인쇄물 자료 5개와 인터넷 웹 사이트 자료 5개를 선정하였다. 평가도구는 2002년 국어교육학회에서 발표한 ‘등급별 국어교육용 어휘 분류 체계’를 이용하였다. 평가방법은 각 자료마다 어휘를 선별하여 1등급부터 5등급 이상으로 등급별로 나눈 뒤 각 등급별 어휘 비율을 비교하였다. 또한 가중치를 주어 평점을 계산한 후 각 자료에 대한 독해력 수준을 평가하였다. 결과: 5개의 고혈압 관련 인쇄물 자료는 1, 2등급 어휘가 평균 41.3% 사용되었
