Incorporating dual human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) blockade into neoadjuvant systemic therapy (NST) led to higher response in patients with HER2-positive breast cancer. However, axillary response to treatment regimens, including single or dual HER2 blockade, in patients with clinically node-positive breast cancer remains uncertain. Our study aimed to examine the pathologic axillary response according to the type of NST, that is, single or dual HER2 blockade. In our study, 546 pat

The Korean Breast Cancer Society (KBCS) has collected nationwide registry data on clinicopathologic characteristics and treatment since 1996. This study aimed to analyze the clinical characteristics of breast cancer in Korea and assess changes in breast cancer statistics for 2021 using data from the KBCS registry and the Korean Central Cancer Registry. In 2021, 34,628 women were newly diagnosed with breast cancer. The median age of women diagnosed with breast cancer was 53.4 years, with the high

Background: Recent trials have provided robust evidence demonstrating that endocrine therapy with/without targeted therapy, such as cyclin-dependent kinase 4/6 inhibitors or mTOR (mammalian target of rapamycin) inhibitors, effectively halts disease progression in hormone receptor (HR)-positive and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-negative metastatic breast cancer. We investigated the survival impact of local treatment of metastases as a first-

BACKGROUND: Since the publication of the Z0011 trial, practice-changing clinical guidelines for breast surgery have been developed. Although recent studies confirmed the feasibility of the Z0011 strategy in Asian populations, there has been no study on the trends of axillary surgery in Asian cohort. This study aimed to investigate the time trend of axillary surgery for breast cancer from a Korean Breast Cancer Registry to understand the impact of the Z0011 trial in Asian patients. SJR Q1Journal of Clinical Oncology

e12500 Background: It is well known that adjuvant tamoxifen treatment for breast cancer in postmenopausal women decreases bone loss. However, the adverse effect of adjuvant tamoxifen therapy for bone mineral density (BMD) in premenopausal breast cancer patients remains uncertain. This meta-analysis aimed to assess the effects of adjuvant tamoxifen therapy on BMD changes in premenopausal women with primary breast cancer. Methods: Through April 2020, studies reporting BMD changes of lumbar spine o

Prognostic Implication of YY1 and CP2c Expression in Patients with Primary Breast Cancer
Chihwan Cha, Seung Han Son, Chul Geun Kim, Hosub Park, Min Sung Chung
SJR Q1CancersOA

Yin Yang 1 (YY1) is a transcription factor that regulates epigenetic pathways and protein modifications. CP2c is a transcription factor that functions as an oncogene to regulate cell proliferation. YY1 is known to interact with CP2c to suppress CP2c’s transcriptional activity. This study aimed to investigate YY1 and CP2c expression in breast cancer and prognostic implications. In this study, YY1 and CP2c expression was evaluated using immunohistochemical staining, Western blot and RT-PCR assays.

We aimed to investigate the differences in prognosis between patients with HER2-low and HER2-zero status. This retrospective cohort study conducted at multi-institution included 1627 patients diagnosed with HER2-low or HER2-zero breast cancer (stages I-III). Survival analysis after propensity score matching was used. In total, 445 patients with HER2-low and 707 patients with HER2-zero status were included. The median follow-up was 92.7 months. Importance: Patients with sporadic breast cancer have comparable prognoses after undergoing either breast-conserving treatment (BCT) or mastectomy. However, there are limited and inconsistent data on the assessment of oncologic outcomes between BCT and mastectomy in patients with pathogenic variants in BRCA1 or BRCA2. Objective: To investigate the outcomes of BCT on recurrence and survival in patients with breast cancer with BRCA1 or BRCA2 pathogenic variants. Design, Setting, and Participants:

SJR Q2OncologyOA

BACKGROUND: We performed this analysis to investigate the clinical presentation of trastuzumab-associated cardiac toxicity in Korean women. METHOD: 124 patients treated in a single institute from January 2006 to November 2011 with adjuvant trastuzumab therapy following primary surgery were identified from a database. We evaluated the cumulative incidence of cardiac toxicity, associated risk factors, and changes in cardiac function during trastuzumab treatment. RESULTS: The median age of patients

Abstract Background: YY1 is conserved transcriptional factor that highly expressed in various types of cancers. It regulates differential epigenetic pathways and protein modifications. However, there is still unknown whether YY1 overexpression has any prognostic significance in breast cancer patients. In this study, we evaluated YY1 expression levels using tissue microarrays and analyzed clinicopathologic characteristics with survival outcomes. Methods: Clinical information and tissue blocks wer

BACKGROUND: s: Few studies have examined the prognosis of male breast cancer patients in Western countries. However, data on the long-term outcomes in Asian male patients are limited. Thus, we aimed to compare long-term survival outcomes between male and female patients including cancer-specific mortality. METHODS: We included male patients diagnosed with primary breast cancer between 1981 and 2014 using nationwide data from the Korean Breast Cancer Registry (KBCR). After propensity score matchi
