15Background— We developed a model that predicts difficulty of percutaneous coronary intervention for coronary chronic total occlusion (CTO) using coronary computed tomographic angiography. Methods and Results— A total of 684 CTO lesions with preprocedural computed tomographic angiography were enrolled from 4 centers. Data were randomly divided into derivation and validation datasets at 2:1 ratio. The end point was successful guidewire crossing ≤30 minutes, which was met in 50%. The KCCT (Korean M
BACKGROUND: There have been little data about outcomes of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for in-stent restenosis (ISR) chronic total occlusion (CTO) in the drug eluting stent (DES) era. This study aimed to compare the procedural success rate and long-term clinical outcomes of ISR CTO and de novo CTO. METHODS AND RESULTS: Patients who underwent PCI for ISR CTO (n = 164) versus de novo CTO (n = 1208) were enrolled from three centers in Korea between January 2008 and December 2014. Among
K-TAVI registry showed favorable 1-year outcomes with decreasing complication rate over time in real-world Korean patients. Two-thirds of patients were low to intermediate surgical risk and showed a significantly lower mortality than the high-risk patients, suggesting the promising future on the expanded indications of TAVI.
Soluble lectin-like oxidized low-density lipoprotein receptor-1 (sLOX-1), neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL), and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) are inflammatory biomarkers involved in plaque destabilization resulting in acute coronary syndrome (ACS). This study aimed to investigate the diagnostic value of a combination of biomarkers to discriminate plaque ruptures in the setting of ACS. Eighty-five ACS patients with optical coherence tomography (OCT) images of the culprit pla
In AF patients undergoing DES implantation, prolonged administration of TAT may be harmful due to the substantial increase in the risk for major bleeding without any reduction in MACCE.
Clinical and angiographic presentations of CAS with thyrotoxicosis were more severe than CAS without thyrotoxicosis, but clinical outcomes were similar in both groups. Optimal vasodilator therapy is essential for the management of CAS with thyrotoxicosis. Thyroid function test should be mandatory for all patients with CAS.
Limited knowledge exists regarding the predictors of mortality after successful weaning of venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). We aimed to identify predictors of in-hospital mortality in patients with cardiogenic shock (CS) after successful weaning from ECMO. Data were obtained from a multicenter registry of CS. Successful ECMO weaning was defined as survival with minimal mean arterial pressure (> 65 mmHg) for > 24 h after ECMO removal. The primary outcome was in-hospital mo
Objective To compare the long-term safety and clinical efficacy of endovascular treatment for TASC-II type C/D femoropopliteal lesion compared with TASC-II type A/B femoropopliteal lesion in Korea. Methods A total of 179 limbs [TASC-II A/B femoropopliteal lesion (group I, n = 105 limbs) and TASC-II C/D (group II, n = 74 limbs)] were retrospectively analyzed from patients who underwent angioplasty with or without primary stent implantation between February 2008 and November 2012 at two medical ce
BACKGROUND: The effect of chronic total occlusion (CTO) revascularization on survival remains controversial. Furthermore, data regarding outcome differences for CTO revascularization based on left ventricular systolic function (LVSF) are limited. The differential outcomes from CTO revascularization in patients with preserved LVSF (PLVSF) versus reduced LVSF (RLVSF) were assessed. METHODS: A total of 2,173 CTO patients were divided into either a PLVSF (n = 1661, Ejection fraction ≥ 50%) or RLVSF
TAPT after drug-eluting stent implantation in patients with uLMCAD did not improve the long-term clinical outcome when compared with conventional DAPT, although it was a safe strategy.
There exists controversy on whether and for how long anticoagulation is necessary after primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).We aimed to study the impact of prolonged (>24 h) or brief (<24 h) postprocedural anticoagulation on infarct size assessed by cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) after 30 days as well as on left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and left ventricular (LV) remodeling evaluated by 2D-echocardiography after 9 m
