15Cavernous hemangiomas occur very rarely in the cavernous sinus and are difficult to diagnose preoperatively. MR images obtained in five patients with surgically verified cavernous hemangiomas in the cavernous sinus were reviewed. MR images showed hypointensity on T1-weighted images and well-defined hyperintensity on T2-weighted images with marked homogeneous enhancement after contrast material administration. We report the characteristic MR imaging observations for these lesions.
We describe MR imaging findings applying gradient echo (GRE) T2*-weighted and fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) MR images at 3T to three patients with hyperacute subarachnoid and intraventricular hemorrhage from ruptured aneurysms. Hyperacute subarachnoid and intraventricular hemorrhages (SAH and IVH) were more clearly visualized as an area of decreased signal intensity on GRE T2*-weighted sequences than on FLAIR sequences in all three patients. These preliminary results suggest that a
Abstract Objective We aimed to evaluate the impact of underlying mechanism of basilar artery ( BA ) occlusion on the outcomes after endovascular therapy ( EVT ) for reperfusion and the outcome factors associated with each mechanism, and to identify radiologic parameters enabling to distinguish the underlying mechanism. Methods From a registry database, 194 consecutive patients with acute BA occlusion who underwent EVT were analyzed. Stroke mechanism, classified into in situ atherosclerotic throm
T2-weighted imaging, DWI, and MRA using 3T MRI may be useful for diagnosing brain death. However, SWI findings are not specific due to high false positive findings.
Our results demonstrate that the correlation between the CBF values from the ASL and DSC tends to be weaker when the transit time is more delayed, with the restoration of the strength of the correlation when the TTP is extremely delayed (>25 seconds). Understanding the effect of delayed transit time on the CBF from ASL perfusion MR in a clinical setting would facilitate the proper interpretation of ASL images.
ASL imaging could detect CCD in 75% of patients with hyperacute infarction. We found that CCD was more prevalent in patients with arterial occlusion, larger ischemic brain volumes, and higher initial NIHSS and mRS scores. In particular, vessel occlusion and initial mRS score appeared to be significantly related with CCD pathophysiology in the hyperacute stage.
BACKGROUND: To clarify whether atherosclerosis of the carotid and intracranial arteries is related to Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathology in vivo, we investigated the associations of carotid and intracranial artery stenosis with cerebral beta-amyloid (Aβ) deposition and neurodegeneration in middle- and old-aged individuals. Given different variations of the pathologies between cognitive groups, we focused separately on cognitively normal (CN) and cognitively impaired (CI) groups. METHODS: C] Pitt
OBJECTIVE: There has been controversy as to whether gadobutrol, one of the widely used macrocyclic gadolinium-based contrast agents, can lead to gadolinium retention after serial injections. Our aim was to validate whether serial administrations of gadobutrol can cause signal increase in the dentate nucleus (DN) and globus pallidus (GP) on unenhanced T1-weighted magnetic resonance (MR) images due to gadolinium retention. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 189 patients who had undergone at least 2
Mean transit time is the most predictive parameter for assessing decreased CVR in patients with unilateral steno-occlusive vascular disease.
