SJR Q1Knee Surgery Sports Traumatology Arthroscopy

PURPOSE: Open-wedge high tibial osteotomy (HTO) cannot always accurately correct limb alignment, resulting in under- or over-correction. This study assessed the relationship between soft tissue laxity of the knee joint and alignment correction in open-wedge HTO. METHODS: This prospective study involved 85 patients (86 knees) undergoing open-wedge HTO for primary medial osteoarthritis. The mechanical axis (MA), weight-bearing line (WBL) ratio, and joint line convergence angle (JLCA) were measured

Proprioception in Patients With Anterior Cruciate Ligament Tears: A Meta-analysis Comparing Injured and Uninjured Limbs
Hyun-Jung Kim, Jin-Hyuck Lee, Dae‐Hee Lee
SJR Q1The American Journal of Sports Medicine

BACKGROUND: Because of a reduction in the number of mechanoreceptors or alterations of their characteristics, anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears lead not only to mechanical instability but also to impaired proprioception. Purpose/Hypothesis: This study analyzed whether ACL tears cause a greater decrease in proprioception in injured than in uninjured knees. The hypothesis was that knee proprioception after ACL tears would decrease more in injured than in contralateral uninjured knees, regardl

Kyung-Han Ro, Jun‐Ho Kim, Jae-Won Heo, Dae‐Hee Lee
SJR Q1Orthopaedic Journal of Sports MedicineOA

BACKGROUND: Given the superiority of meniscal repair over partial meniscectomy according to biomechanical data, the clinical outcomes of meniscal repair are likely to be better than those of partial meniscectomy for a medial meniscus root tear (MMRT). PURPOSE/HYPOTHESIS: This review was designed to compare the clinical and radiological results between meniscal repair and partial meniscectomy for MMRTs. It was hypothesized that meniscal repair would result in better clinical and radiological resu

Greater Axial Trough Obliquity Increases the Risk of Graft Extrusion in Lateral Meniscus Allograft Transplantation
Dae‐Hee Lee, Jong‐Min Kim, Bum‐Sik Lee, Kyung-Ah Kim, Seong‐Il Bin
SJR Q1The American Journal of Sports Medicine

BACKGROUND: In lateral meniscus allograft transplantation (MAT) using the keyhole method, precise trough drilling is critical for ensuring the graft is placed at the correct anatomic position to minimize the risk of extrusion. However, no study has focused on the effect of bony trough axial obliquity on graft extrusion. Our purpose was to investigate whether bony trough axial obliquity and bony trough position correlate with graft extrusion in lateral MAT using the keyhole method. HYPOTHESIS: We

Influence of Anterior Cruciate Ligament Tear on Thigh Muscle Strength and Hamstring-to-Quadriceps Ratio: A Meta-Analysis
Hyun Jung Kim, Jin-Hyuck Lee, Sung-Eun Ahn, Minji Park, Dae‐Hee Lee
SJR Q1PLoS ONEOA

Theoretical compensation after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear could cause quadriceps weakness and hamstring activation, preventing anterior tibial subluxation and affecting the expected hamstring-to-quadriceps ratio. Although quadriceps weakness often occurs after ACL tears, it remains unclear whether hamstring strength and hamstring-to-quadriceps ratio increase in ACL deficient knees. This meta-analysis compared the isokinetic muscle strength of quadriceps and hamstring muscles, and the
