위대현 교수의 연구실은 열전 및 스커터디트 계열 소재를 중심으로 열전기 소자 및 열역학적 시스템의 성능 최적화를 연구하고 있습니다. 특히 열전성능 향상을 위한 나노구조 제어, 전자-음향 상호작용의 정량적 분석, 그리고 열원 분포 최적화를 통한 고효율 열전 발전기 설계에 초점을 맞추고 있습니다. 또한, 유동 안정성과 열역학적 비평형 현상 간의 상관관계를 규명하는 데에도 기여하고 있습니다.

We use ab initio computations to investigate the effect of filler ions on the properties of ${\text{CoSb}}_{3}$ skutterudites. We analyze global and local structural effects of filling, using the Ba-filled system as an example. We show that the deformation of Sb network induced by the filler affects primarily nearest neighboring Sb sites around the filler site as the soft Sb rings accommodate the distortion. Thermoacoustic instability in premixed combustors occurs occasionally at multiple frequencies, especially in configurations where flames are stabilized on separating shear layers that form downstream of sudden expansions or bluff bodies.
