SJR Q1Analytical Chemistry

Mass spectra of polystyrene and poly(methylsilsesquioxane)(PMSSQ) derived from methyltriethoxysilane(MTES) were obtained in the 100-1,000 Da range by laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry using a graphite plate without a matrix. Clean mass spectra were obtained without interference from carbon clusters or other low molecular weight compounds. Initial reaction products derived from condensation of partially hydrolyzed MTES were observed. Upon 30 min of heating at 30 degrees

Aging is a progressive process, and it may lead to the initiation of neurological diseases. In this study, weinvestigated the effects of wild Indian Curcuma longa using a Morris water maze paradigm on learning and spatial memory inadult and D-galactose-induced aged mice. In addition, the effects on cell proliferation and neuroblast differentiation were assessed by immunohistochemistry for Ki67 and doublecortin (DCX) respectively. The aging model in mice was induced through the subcutaneous admin

Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) is the most used member of the phthalate class of compounds. Extensive use of this plasticizer allows daily exposure to humans via various routes. A positive relationship between DEHP exposure and neurobehavioral disorders is suspected. But, there are insufficient data on the harmfulness of neurobehavioral disorders caused by DEHP exposure, particularly at daily exposure levels. In this study, we assessed the consequences of daily DEHP ingestion (2 and 20 mg/kg

SJR Q1Engineering StructuresOA

Reinforcing bar bond is of paramount importance for the structural integrity of reinforced concrete and can be enhanced by fiber inclusion and self-prestressing. Previous research has developed bio-inspired self-prestressed fiber reinforced concrete (SP-FRC) utilizing fibers and expansive agent, and multiscale hybrid steel fiber reinforced concrete (HSFRC). In this research, SP-FRC and HSFRC were combined to develop bio-inspired self-prestressed hybrid steel fiber reinforced concrete (SP-HSFRC)

Pyridoxine, one of the vitamin B6 vitamers, plays a crucial role in amino acid metabolism and synthesis of monoamines as a cofactor. In the present study, we observed the effects of pyridoxine deficiency on novel object recognition memory. In addition, we examined the levels of 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT), 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid (5-HIAA), 3,4-dihydroxyphenethylamine (DA), 3,4-dihydroxyphenylacetic acid, and homovanillic acid and the number of proliferating cells and neuroblasts in the hippoca

Serum pyridoxal 5'-phosphate levels were significantly decreased in Pyridoxine-deficient diet (PDD)-fed gerbils, while homocysteine levels were significantly increased in sham- and ischemia-operated gerbils. PDD-fed gerbil showed a reduction in neuronal nuclei (NeuN)-immunoreactive neurons in the medial part of the hippocampal CA1 region three days after. Reactive astrocytosis and microgliosis were found in PDD-fed gerbils, and transient ischemia caused the aggregation of activat

In the present study, we investigated the effects of heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) on novel object recognition, cell proliferation, and neuroblast differentiation in the hippocampus. To facilitate penetration into the blood-brain barrier and neuronal plasma membrane, we created a Tat-HSP70 fusion protein. Eight-week-old mice received intraperitoneal injections of vehicle (10% glycerol), control-HSP70, or Tat-HSP70 protein once a day for 21 days. To elucidate the delivery efficiency of HSP70 into

Recurrence is a common complication observed during cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) treatment; however, biomarkers for predicting recurrence in cSCC remain unknown. The present study aimed to investigate the predictive value of axis inhibition protein 2 (AXIN2) and SNAIL expression in cSCC recurrence. AXIN2 and SNAIL expression was evaluated using immunohistochemistry in 111 cSCC tissue samples obtained from 18 patients who presented recurrence (recurrence interval, 1-91 months) and 93

(1) Background: The estrogen decline during perimenopause can induce various disorders, including cognitive impairment. Phytoestrogens, such as isoflavones, lignans, and coumestans, have been tried as a popular alternative to avoid the side effects of conventional hormone replacement therapy, but their exact mechanisms and risk are not fully elucidated. In this study, we investigated the effects of isoflavone-enriched soybean leaves (IESLs) on the cognitive impairment induced by ovariectomy in f

As a medicinal plant, the roots of Valeriana officinalis have been used as a sedative and tranquilizer. In the present study, we evaluated the neuroprotective effects of valerian root extracts (VE) on the hippocampal CA1 region of gerbils after 5 min of transient cerebral ischemia. Gerbils were administered VE orally once a day for 3 weeks, subjected to ischemia/reperfusion injury, and continued on VE for 3 weeks. The administration of 100 mg/kg VE (VE100 group) significantly reduced the ischemi

In this study, we determined how rosiglitazone (RSG)differentially affected hippocampal neurogenesis in mice fed alow-fat diet (LFD) or high-fat diet (HFD; 60% fat). LFD andHFD were given to the mice for 8 weeks. Four weeks afterinitiating the LFD and HFD feeding, vehicle or RSG wasadministered orally once a day to both groups of mice. Wemeasured cell proliferation and neuroblast differentiation inthe subgranular zone of the dentate gyrus using Ki67 anddoublecortin (DCX), respectively, as marker
