All-perovskite-based polycrystalline thin-film tandem solar cells have the potential to deliver efficiencies of >30%. However, the performance of all-perovskite-based tandem devices has been limited by the lack of high-efficiency, low-band gap tin-lead (Sn-Pb) mixed-perovskite solar cells (PSCs). We found that the addition of guanidinium thiocyanate (GuaSCN) resulted in marked improvements in the structural and optoelectronic properties of Sn-Pb mixed, low-band gap (~1.25 electron volt) perovski

Maximizing the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of perovskite/silicon tandem solar cells that can exceed the Shockley-Queisser single-cell limit requires a high-performing, stable perovskite top cell with a wide bandgap. We developed a stable perovskite solar cell with a bandgap of ~1.7 electron volts that retained more than 80% of its initial PCE of 20.7% after 1000 hours of continuous illumination. Anion engineering of phenethylammonium-based two-dimensional (2D) additives was critical for co

SJR Q1ACS Energy LettersOA

Metal halide perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have become the most promising new-generation solar cell technology. To date, perovskites also represent the only polycrystalline thin-film absorber technology that has enabled >20% efficiency for wide-bandgap solar cells, making wide-bandgap PSCs uniquely positioned to enable high-efficiency and low-cost tandem solar cell technologies by coupling wide-bandgap perovskites with low-bandgap absorbers. In this Focus Review, we highlight recent research pro

Anatase Ti0.96Co0.04O2 films were grown epitaxially on SrTiO3 (001) substrates by using pulsed laser deposition with in-situ reflection high-energy electron diffraction. The oxygen partial pressure, PO2, during the growth was systematically varied. As PO2 decreased, the growth behavior was changed from a two-dimensional layer-by-layer-like growth to a three-dimensional island-like one, which resulted in an increase in the saturation magnetization. These structural and magnetic changes were expla

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) are the most promising candidates as next-generation solar energy conversion systems. To design a highly efficient PSC, understanding electronic properties of mesoporous metal oxides is essential. Herein, we explore the effect of Nb doping of TiO2 on electronic structure and photovoltaic properties of PSCs. Light Nb doping (0.5 and 1.0 at %) increased the optical band gap slightly, but heavy doping (5.0 at %) distinctively decreased it. The relative Fermi level posi

Organic–inorganic perovskites with intriguing optical and electrical properties have attracted significant research interests due to their excellent performance in optoelectronic devices. Recent efforts on preparing uniform and large‐grain polycrystalline perovskite films have led to enhanced carrier lifetime up to several microseconds. However, the mobility and trap densities of polycrystalline perovskite films are still significantly behind their single‐crystal counterparts. Here, a facile top

Abstract Given that the highest certified conversion efficiency of the organic–inorganic perovskite solar cell (PSC) already exceeds 22 %, which is even higher than that of the polycrystalline silicon solar cell, the significance of new scalable processes that can be utilized for preparing large‐area devices and their commercialization is rapidly increasing. From this perspective, the electrodeposition method is one of the most suitable processes for preparing large‐area devices because it is an

Flexible perovskite solar cells (f-PSCs) have attracted increasing attention for a variety of applications because of their desirable form factor and improved durability. However, the f-PSC fabrication process has not been optimized, resulting in their uneven efficiency. We report a van der Waals stacking (vdWS) process that yields uniform and highly crystalline perovskite films on flexible substrates by uniform heat transfer during the perovskite annealing process. In addition, the surface and

We report the electrical properties of rubidium-incorporated methylammonium lead iodide ((Rb x MA 1– x )PbI 3 ) films and the photovoltaic performance of (Rb x MA 1– x )PbI 3 film-based p–i–n-type perovskite solar cells (PSCs). The incorporation of a small amount of Rb + ( x = 0.05) increases both the open circuit voltage ( V oc ) and the short circuit photocurrent density ( J sc ) of the PSCs, leading to an improved power conversion efficiency (PCE). However, a high fraction of Rb + incorporati

A superhydrophobic magnetic elastomer actuator for droplet motion control

SJR Q2Polymers for Advanced Technologies

For the fast droplet transportation on an open surface, a new magnetic elastomer with a superhydrophobic surface has been developed. Because the surface is superhydrophobic, the water droplet can easily roll off on the surface. The movement of the droplet was controlled by a deliberate local deformation of the surface of the elastomer induced by magnetic actuation. The direction and speed of the droplet motion was easily controlled by changing the surface topography using magnetic force. We also

Among ternary oxides, Zn2 SnO4 (ZSO) is considered for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) because of its wide bandgap, high optical transmittance, and high electrical conductivity. However, ZSO-based DSSCs have a poor performance record owing largely to the absence of systematic efforts to enhance their performance. Herein, general strategies are proposed to improve the performance of ZSO-based DSSCs involving interfacial engineering/modification of the photoanode. A conformal ZSO thin film (blo
