15Institutional review board approval and informed consent were obtained. The purpose of the study was to prospectively evaluate magnetic resonance (MR) urethrography for the depiction of obliterative urethral stricture. Twelve patients with obliterative urethral stricture were examined preoperatively with T2-weighted, T1-weighted, and contrast material-enhanced T1-weighted MR imaging of a urethra distended with sterile lubricating jelly. Ten of the 12 patients were examined with conventional retr
Background Identification of clinical features to determine the aggressive potential of tumors is highly warranted to stratify patients for adequate treatment. Computed tomography (CT) imaging features of clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) may contribute to personalized risk assessment. Purpose To assess the correlation between CT imaging features and Fuhrman grade of ccRCC, and to identify the predictors of high Fuhrman grade in conjunction with tumor size. Material and Methods CT scans of
Growing teratoma syndrome can be manifested as intraperitoneal masses with an increased fatty or cystic component. Radiologists should consider GTS when there are such masses on follow-up imaging studies in patients with malignant ovarian GCT.
This study aimed to compare the diagnostic validity of biparametric magnetic resonance imaging (bpMRI) with that of multiparametric MRI (mpMRI) based on the Vesicle Imaging-Reporting and Data System (VI-RADS) in predicting muscle invasion by bladder cancer (BCa). We retrospectively examined 357 patients with an initial diagnosis of BCa who underwent preoperative MRI; 257 and 100 patients underwent mpMRI and bpMRI, respectively. Two urogenital radiologists evaluated all bpMRI and mpMRI scans usin
The goal of our study was to evaluate the impact of the interval between prostate biopsy and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) on the accuracy of simple tumor localization, which is essential information that enables nerve-sparing surgery. We also sought to determine the optimal timing of a post-biopsy MRI. A total of 184 patients who had undergone MRI before radical prostatectomy at an institution without a predetermined schedule for MRI after a prostate biopsy were enrolled. The mean interval f
Continent urinary diversions have recently become the preferred procedures rather than performing an ileal conduit. Intravenous urography, pouchography, and computed tomography scans are frequently used for postoperative evaluation of patients with bladder carcinoma. During postoperative follow-up imaging studies, the radiologist must keep these 4 facets in mind as his primary focus: 1) the detection of newly developed urothelial tumors, 2) the detection of metastasis, 3) the detection of postop
OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to assess the utility of prostate-specific antigen density (PSAD) calculated using magnetic resonance imaging for predicting Gleason score (GS) upgrade in patients with low-risk prostate cancer on biopsy. METHODS: Seventy-three patients were divided into 2 groups according to the concordance between biopsy and prostatectomy GS: group 1 (6/6) and group 2 (6/≥7). Magnetic resonance imaging-based PSAD, prostate volume, prostate-specific antigen (PSA), and age we
Objective The aim of the study was to investigate the diagnostic feasibility of radiomics analysis using magnetic resonance elastography (MRE) to assess hepatic fibrosis in patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Methods One hundred patients with suspected NAFLD were retrospectively enrolled. All patients underwent a liver parenchymal biopsy. Magnetic resonance elastography was performed using a 3.0-T scanner. After multislice segmentation of MRE images, 834 radiomic features wer
Abstract In filtration and dewatering processes the cake structure and the degree of homogeneity of solids in the filter cake are important parameters. The paper describes a novel modified laboratory approach for producing a uniform structure filter cake in pressure filtration. The uniformity of the filter cake, described in terms of the mixing index, was derived using the Kramers model for various types of cake formation conditions. The study identified that a low moisture level in the filter c
Prostate-specific antigen adjusted for transition zone volume is more accurate than prostate-specific antigen density in distinguishing prostate cancer from benign prostatic hyperplasia in men with intermediate serum prostate-specific antigen of 4.1 to 10.0 ng/mL. Determination of transition zone volume by transrectal ultrasonography may be helpful for predicting the probability of positive biopsy results.
