김은주 교수의 연구실은 장내 미생물과 대사물질 간의 상관관계를 중심으로 비만 및 대사질환의 기전을 밝히는 데 초점을 맞추고 있습니다. 고지방식이 유도하는 장내 미생물군집의 변화와 대사 프로파일 변화를 분석함으로써, 김치 미생물군집(KMC)이 비만에 미치는 억제 효과를 규명하고 있습니다. 또한, 의료 기록 기반의 반려견 질병 유병률 분석과 축산환경의 위생 평가를 위한 ATP 측정 기술 응용 등 다양한 생물정보학적·미생물학적 접근을 통해 건강 증진과 질병 예방 전략을 모색하고 있습니다.
