15Abstract Radiomics has been spotlighted as imaging biomarker for estimation of intratumoral heterogeneity (ITH) which is regarded as the main reason for resistance to tumor treatment. Although a number of studies has shown clinical evidences that separate measurement of metabolic ITH by texture features (TFs) on 18 F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography ( 18 F-FDG PET/CT) has prognostic ability in various tumors, there has been no consensus regarding the best param
This randomized prospective study investigated the effect of fibrin glue use on drainage duration and overall drain output after lumpectomy and axillary dissection in breast cancer patients. A total of 100 patients undergoing breast lumpectomy and axillary dissection were randomized to a fibrin glue group (N=50; glue sprayed onto the axillary dissection site) or a control group (N=50). Outcome measures were drainage duration, overall drain output, and incidence of seroma. Overall, the fibrin glu
Abstract Background The tumor immune microenvironment, particularly tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs), plays a critical role in disease progression and treatment response in triple-negative breast cancers (TNBCs). This study was aimed to characterize the composition of TILs and investigate their clinicopathological and prognostic significance with a special focus on the spatial distribution of TILs in TNBCs. Methods We analyzed TNBC samples through PanCancer Immune Profiling using NanoString

The aim of this study is to evaluate cosmetic outcomes of the reconstructed breast in breast cancer patients, using anomaly score (AS) detected by generative adversarial network (GAN) deep learning algorithm. A total of 251 normal breast images from patients who underwent breast-conserving surgery were used for training anomaly GAN network. GAN-based anomaly detection was used to calculate abnormalities as an AS, followed by standardization by using z-score. Then, we reviewed 61 breast cancer pa
Prognostic implications of therapeutic response of metastatic lymph nodes (LNs) to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) remain unclear in patients with breast cancer. We aimed to evaluate the prognostic value of axillary LN regression after NAC in locally-advanced breast cancer patients. Therapeutic response of the LNs was evaluated in 563 breast cancer patients and classified into four grades according to the regression pattern. Initial pathologic N stage was estimated from the sum of the metastatic
Given the prognostic implications of HER2 discordance which primarily involves zero-to-low conversion and the therapeutic benefits of newly developed antibody-drug conjugates in HER2-low breast cancers, HER2 status should be re-evaluated in surgical resection specimens following NAC.
BACKGROUND: This study analyzes the aesthetic outcomes associated with inframammary fold (IMF) incisions compared to radial incisions, with or without a periareolar component (referred to as periareolar/radial, PR), considering nipple-sparing mastectomy (NSM) followed by prepectoral direct-to-implant (DTI) reconstruction and subsequent post-mastectomy radiotherapy (PMRT). We assessed changes in breast and nipple symmetry, nipple-to-IMF distance, and nipple Y-axis coefficients to understand how d
BACKGROUND: Capsular contracture remains a significant complication of nipple-sparing mastectomy(NSM) with immediate direct-to-implant(DTI) reconstruction. Although local inflammation is known to contribute to its development, the role of systemic inflammatory markers remains unclear. This study aimed to evaluate whether preoperative systemic inflammatory markers, such as neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), are associated with the increased risk of develo

This study aimed to investigate the clinicopathological characteristics, response to chemotherapy, and clinical outcomes according to estrogen receptor (ER) expression levels in breast cancer (BC) patients treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC). ER expression levels were categorized as ER-negative (expression in <1% of tumor cells), ER-low positive (1-10%), ER-intermediate positive (11-50%), and ER- high positive (>50%). Of the 1,365 cases, 647 (47.4%) were classified as ER-negative, 49 (3.
Abstract Backgrounds: A superficial margin less than 2mm from tumor is considered a risk factor for local recurrence (LR) after breast cancer surgery. For the prevention of LR and RR, radiation therapy (RT) is acknowledged as the principal adjuvant therapy. However, its role following NSM/SSM is less defined in contrast to the clear indication for RT following conventional mastectomy. Purpose: The objective of this study was to investigate the factors associated with LR and RR to assess the impa
