15Our results indicated that risk factors associated with PBSI included the number of catheter lumens, the use of PICCs for chemotherapy, and the hospital length of stay. Furthermore, PBSI-related death was common in patients undergoing chemotherapy, diabetics, and elderly patients.
Despite increasing use, the exact prevalence and predictors of peripherally inserted central catheter-associated bloodstream infection (PICC-CLABSI) in hospitalized patients with cancer are not elucidated. This retrospective cohort study included consecutive patients who underwent peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) placement in 4 institutions (during 12 months in 3 hospitals and 10 months in 1 hospital). The prevalence of PICC-CLABSI was evaluated. The association between predictors an
In this paper, we describe a method for estimating and compensating 3D camera motion in image sequences for applications to the video coding system. To effectively estimate camera motion parameters (zoom, pan, tilt, swing, and focal length) from image sequences, we propose a new linear motion parameter equation and use the Kalman filtering method to solve it. Unlike the existing linear techniques, the proposed linear method accurately estimates the large rotation angles and the focal length. Exp
In this paper, we describe a method for estimating and compensating 3D camera motion in image sequences for applications to video coding systems. To improve the coding efficiency, a two-stage motion compensation (MC) method is used, consisting of global MC for predicting camera motion and local MC for predicting object motion. For global MC, a new linear motion parameter model is presented to describe the camera motion parameters: zoom, pan, tilt, swing, and focal length. To estimate camera moti
BACKGROUND: Peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs) are now widely used in modern medicine, and associated complications have also increased. Central line-associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI) is the most serious complication because it can cause extended hospital stays and increase costs. Furthermore, it can contribute to dire consequences for critically ill patients. Subcutaneous tunnelling for central venous catheters is an accepted method to reduce the risk of CLABSI. However, it
We describe a method for estimating and compensating 3D camera motion in image sequences for applications to a video coding system. To improve the estimation accuracy of the global motion parameter, we propose a robust algorithm which selects the reliable observation points adaptively and eliminates the bad observation points effectively. Unlike the existing linear recursive algorithms with an arbitrary thresholding, the proposed algorithm converges fast and is robust to feature matching error.
We present the estimation method of global motion parameters corresponding to 3-D camera motion in the non-stationary noisy situation. The total least squares problem is first formulated to represent the global motion parameters estimation procedure from the noise-corrupted image coordinates. Then, a recursive total least squares (RTLS) algorithm is proposed to estimate 3D camera motion parameters in image sequences. The algorithm is proposed based on a five camera parameter model: zoom, focal l
Purpose The purpose of this study is to develop a modular garment assembly line simulator that can be used for various production methods such as traditional mass production or modern small quantity batch production. Design/methodology/approach For realistic simulation, the actual shape and sewing information of the garment patterns were used. The assembly line consists of process units including the cutter, preprocessor, module assembly, final assembly, finish, and stack units. Any number of un
Abstract A smart insole system consisting of pressure sensors, wireless communication modules, and pressure monitoring software has been developed to measure plantar pressure distribution that appears in sewing process. This system calculates the cycle time of each operation by analyzing the real-time plantar pressure data. The operation cycle time was divided into the time done by machine and by manual and calculated by adding the two types of time. By analyzing the cycle time, it is possible t
An arteriovenous malformation (AVM) of the face or scalp is an abnormal connection between the feeding arteries and draining veins, without the normal capillary bed in the subcutaneous layer of the scalp. The draining veins may be grossly dilated and tortuous, and may show variceal dilatation (1-5). It is generally thought that AVM arises from multiple developmental defects causing the primitive capillary bed to fail to persist (6, 7). It is also thought that increased arterial pressure and flow
