손은진 교수의 연구실은 청각 신경생물학과 내이 기능의 분자 기전을 중심으로 연구를 진행하고 있습니다. 특히 고막과 중이의 해부학적 기형, 청력 손실의 기전, 그리고 뇌간 혈행 장애와 관련된 청력 손실의 진단 및 메커니즘을 다루며, 내이의 pH 조절 기전과 Na+/H+ 교환체의 기능적 역할에 대해서도 깊이 있는 연구를 수행하고 있습니다. 또한 청각 기능의 발달 기전, 특히 Sonic hedgehog 신호전달이 고막의 주파수 조직화에 미치는 영향을 분석하고 있습니다.

Neuroendocrine tumors originating in the middle ear are rare, and presentation with facial paralysis is extremely uncommon. A 19-year-old woman with a history of transient facial paralysis presented with a right-sided middle ear mass.
