김은정 교수의 연구실은 줄기세포의 면역조절 기능과 조직 재생 메커니즘을 중심으로, 만성 염증성 질환 및 암 치료에 응용 가능한 세포 기반 치료 전략을 개발하고 있습니다. 특히 혈관세포의 염증 반응 조절과 신경염증 관련 질환, 예를 들어 수술 후 혼란증후군의 병태생리 기전을 규명하는 데에도 집중하고 있으며, 이는 임상적 적용 가능성이 높은 기초 연구입니다. 또한, 유전자 조절 메커니즘과 뼈 형성 과정에서의 신호전달 경로를 밝히는 데 있어 분자생물학적 접근을 적극 활용하고 있습니다.
