15Abstract Broadband and ultrathin electromagnetic interference (EMI)‐shielding materials are crucial for efficient high‐frequency data transmission in emerging technologies. MXenes are renowned for their outstanding electrical conductivity and EMI‐shielding capability. While substituting nitrogen (N) for carbon (C) atoms in the conventional MXene structure is theoretically expected to enhance these properties, synthesis challenges have hindered progress. Here, it is demonstrated that Ti x C y N x
This paper presents the experimental observation of the effect of an aftercavity interaction (ACI) in a depressed collector gyrotron oscillator. The gyrotron generates an output power of 1.5MW at 110GHz in 3μs pulses with a 96kV and 40A electron beam and has a single-stage depressed collector. The ACI arises from an unintended cyclotron resonant interaction between the microwave beam traveling out from the cavity and the gyrating electron beam. The interaction occurs in the uptaper of the launch
The well-defined orbital angular momentum (OAM) of rotating cavity modes operating near the cutoff frequency excited by gyrating electrons in a high-power electron cyclotron maser (ECM)-a gyrotron-has been derived by photonic and electromagnetic wave approaches. A mode generator was built with a high-precision 3D printing technique to mimic the rotating gyrotron modes for precise low-power measurements and shows clear natural production of higher-order OAM modes. Cold-test measurements of higher
In this work we study the tribonacci numbers. We find a tribonacci triangle which is an analog of Pascal triangle. We also investigate an efficient method to compute any <TEX>$n$</TEX>th tribonacci numbers by matrix method, and find periods of the sequence by taking modular tribonacci number.
A new result from a 110GHz gyrotron at MIT is reported with an output power of 1.67MW and an efficiency of 42% when operated at 97kV and 41A for 3μs pulses in the TE22,6 mode. These results are a major improvement over results obtained with an earlier cavity design, which produced 1.43MW of power at 37% efficiency. These new results were obtained using a cavity with a reduced output taper angle and a lower ohmic loss when compared with the earlier cavity. The improved operation is shown experime
Remote detection of radioactive materials is impossible when the measurement location is far from the radioactive source such that the leakage of high-energy photons or electrons from the source cannot be measured. Current technologies are less effective in this respect because they only allow the detection at distances to which the high-energy photons or electrons can reach the detector. Here we demonstrate an experimental method for remote detection of radioactive materials by inducing plasma
We report operation of a 110 GHz gyrotron with 1.67 MW of output power measured in short pulses (3??s) at an efficiency of 42% in the TE 22,6 mode. We also present a preliminary design of a 1 MW, 120 GHz gyrotron for ITER start-up with an efficiency greater than 50%.
We report new experimental results from a 1.5-MW, 110-GHz gyrotron with a single-stage depressed collector. The,gyrotron was operated in the TE22.6 mode with 3-mu s pulse duration. An internal mode converter, which consists of a launcher and four mirrors, has been installed and tested A highly Gaussian-like output beam was observed A single-stage depressed collector has been operated for the study of efficiency enhancement using the same cavity V-2005 as was used in a previous experiment in the
A complete code-package for gyrotron simulation to analyze its performance is under development in UNIST, Korea. We first time report the present status of the code-package named as UNIST Gyrotron Design Tool (UGDT). It can perform design simulations for gyrotron’s interaction cavity, RF window, and the essential mode calculations including the study of mode competition. We will discuss about its salient features, theory, numerical implementation, and its calculation result for 95 GHz UNIST Gyro
While performing additional investigations, we discovered an error in the dI t =dz measurement shown in Fig. The error involved the improper dynamic response of a lock-in amplifier in the apparatus with respect to the temporal change of the tunneling current. This occurred when the increment rate of the tunneling current (dI t =dt) was set high, which corresponded to a condition of high tunneling conductance (G t ) and high tunneling voltage (V t ) in the tip approach experiment. The correct mea
